Everybody knew it was the Annual Douchebag Sport Bikist Day, so they stayed the fuck home and didn't get beat up.

Seriously, how much of a tool do you have to be to start an annual ride for sport bikes in one of the most stop-and-go traffic places in the country?

I also thought I read the range rover had his tires slashed by a knife... Why would a biker have a knife?

There was enough of them, surely several people had knives on them. I always carry a knife on me when I own one. I happen to be in between knives right now though. It's a tool though, not for self defense.

I've read a lot of comments on various websites from people saying if they were the Range Rover driver, and if they had a gun, they would've used it. I'd also be willing to bet that there were a few guns in that crowd as well. I wouldn't have fired a shot for just that reason.

I've read numerous accounts of similar mob mentality attacks where the victim used a firearm in self defense and the crowd scattered (once you break the mob mentality's sense of invulnerability, they tend to do that).

I've also read of numerous accounts of drivers taken from vehicles and killed.

I'd go with using my gun in that situation (the final attack where they smashed the window). I train with my firearms and am confident in my proficiency. Everyone who owns a weapon for self defense should take it's use seriously and seek professional training to improve their proficiency and safety.

It's a sad fact that the vast majority of people who own firearms for self defense never seek professional training.

Had that incident happened here in the south, there's a good chance it would have ended differently.

I saw this, it was interesting.

Bikers were blocking traffic, riding on the side walk, emergency lanes, etc etc.

Alright, I have a couple friends who ride motorcycles, and I used to ride too, but holy shit do bikers piss me off so much. If they think that you got too close to them or anything else that they don't like, they start their whole macho tough-guy routine. I recently had a biker bang on my window one time because I tried to pass him (safely, on the left) when he was driving erratically. Apparently I got in the way of him swerving between all 3 lanes on the highway.

Too all the bikers reading this: learn to ride defensively. Yeah, it sucks when someone doesn't look over their shoulder before they change lanes, but you are the one who chose to take the risk of operating a much more dangerous vehicle. Give other drivers space, use your signals, and control your road rage.
I agree with everything you said. BUT, drivers need to be completely aware of their surroundings and drive defensively as well. Just because they have a cage around them, protecting them, doesn't give them an excuse to drive distracted or unattentively.

I ride a sport bike now and have been riding dirt and street my whole life. The way these bikers acted makes me feel ashamed. I feel bad that people are classifying me as a "biker" when these guys are classified as "bikers" as well. They are creating a bad stereotype.
