So it works. Now the true test will be at the track with 110 + temps.

Also, I noticed that SARD has a oil cooler of their own, but I haven't heard/seen much about it. Have you?

Now, using a liquid to liquid solution is more efficient than air to liquid but still, surface area, capacity are very important.

Hope this solution works better for you and may you have zero leaks. Will you be at the Southeast86 meet in Orlando next month?

Just wanted to update this thread as I had asked Cusco to send me info once they released the version for Automatics, and the new cooler is confirmed to work with both Automatics and Manuals.
Check out the PDF they released: http://www.cuscousainc.com/downloads...il_coolers.pdf The new part number is 965 012 AN Thanks! Rick |

The car is unavailable for downtime till Friday PM, it will be installed and I have my ecutek data logs, both normal and performance runs before temps already done. I will photograph and post during install.
I bought it from FA20club.com, Toni's company is excellent!

I have installed this kit as tonystewart has pictured.
The car is NA stock I have tracked it before and after oil cooler at different tracks and different ambient temps. My impression is that it probably gives 10deg C cooling and matches the graph shown at the pdf http://www.cuscousainc.com/downloads...il_coolers.pdf Wakefield park with NO oil cooler, stock NA car Ambient 15deg celcius (59F) after 6 minutes on track, oil temp peak 128 deg C (262F) water temp stable around 90 deg C (194F) That was the end of that session. I think that if the session continued, then the temp would have crept up a bit higher. Sydney Motorsport Park Eastern Creek WITH oil cooler, same NA car Ambient 27deg celcius (81F) after 6 minutes on track, oil temp peak 120 deg C (248F) water temp stable around 90 deg C (194F) The sessions continue for total of 20mins and 120 deg C was the peak. Mostly, the oil temp was between 115-120 deg C (239-248F). I am happy with the result on a stock NA car. The instal is very neat. I prefer using radiator hoses and not having oil lines. I also like the idea that when I change the oil, there is no residual oil in the cooler. I expect that if using on a car with FI on the track, will need radiator upgrade. 1) Go to a junkyard, find a turbo Subaru from the last 20 years with the Oil cooler still intact. 2) Remove said oil cooler and pay next to nothing for one. 3) Buy some radiator hoses and tube adapter things. Or you can just send me half of that $600 you would have spent on that kit and I'll do it for you LOL!!! 4) Install on your car... DONE! :P |
