17” wheels too small for FI’d twins?

I’m posting this in the FI forum instead of wheels and tires forum because I need feedbacks from FI owners. Are 17” wheel setup too small to handle the added power and torque of the FI’d twins?

I don't think so.
I'm doing ok with 300whp and 255/40 R compounds on 17x9 wheels

Your right foot determines if that is too small or not.

17's are fine. I prefer 17's to 18's.
Tyres are normally cheaper too.

What does the diameter of the wheel have to do with power? You're worried about rippling the sidewalls of 17" tires when you launch?

^ that

Really OP 17's are too BIG, you need to go smaller to really lay down the power, goodyear doesn't make slicks for wheels bigger than 17.

You should use the smallest wheel that fits your brake calipers. Period.

I feel width would be more important than diameter, wouldn't it?

I never thought there was any correlation between big wheels high horse power. The trend of using 19" or bigger wheels on sports cars is just that. After all, bigger is better, right?
In reality, the weight and strength of the wheel and using a diameter that allows for the optimal tire profile is probably what matters functionally.
Super low profile tires necessary on supersized wheels makes it harder to get traction with hard acceleration. Plus the unsprung weight increasing only hampers the responsiveness of suspension and steering. My STI has stock 19" wheels and for sure I'd never buy that size aftermarket. I like 17" wider wheels on the twins.

Exactly. The question makes no sense at all.
