As frequently as consumer electronics change, I'm guessing this model may be nearing the end of it's model run. It was never officially available in North America so it has to be purchased from an international seller.

Try contacting this eBay seller and see if they can get any more or if there is a newer version:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-AVH...AAAOSw65FbbUuq

FastMoto still has it on their site but you'd better contact them about availability:

question for those that have the head unit, does your guys equalizer blink while driving? had to turn off mute att or whatever cause it kept triggering audio issues. What did you guys in the us use as your settings?

Also i got the auto harness house cable, so did anyone ground the green video wire?
I assume that would allow the unit to play dvds or movies while driving, not for me but for my codriver when shes in the passenger seat watching movies.

I have not noticed the equalizer flashing on my head unit. Did you cut the pink wire on the autoharnesshouse cable that godzuki mentioned in this post?

Not sure if this fix applies to your BRZ, but it could possibly be causing the problem. I just pulled the pin from the pink wire on my connector.

I did not ground the video cable in my setup.

Just grounding the green wire (handbrake on/off status) will probably not do what you want. You may need one of these:

I got that, but the wiring seems to be matching up

I believe someone asked about the Sirius XM adapter.

This is the one that you need for newer BRZs:
https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/AHH-XM1.html

The adapter for older BRZs is here:
https://www.amazon.com/Shark-Antenna...dp/B00BU74TQ8/

Not sure if the FRS or GT86 has a Sirius XM antenna.

Just finished installing this in my 18' BRZ Premium. I ordered the direct plug and play from the link in the first post (thanks!). Everything went together super smooth except for the steering controls, which I just had to solder 3 wires (no big deal). I am super happy with how everything functions, but because the newer? starlink units are tapered outwards at the top it leaves a large gap there when the trim is re-installed. What is everyone using for dash trim to have a nice clean fit?

That's the part I used. Color is a little off from the factory piece and it's not a perfect fit. But AFAIK it's the best current option.

Alternatively, you can order the Canadian 2017 dash kit (my car came with it factory because I’m a Canuck, it’s what you can see in the op)

Based largely on the similarity of the model number, I'm wondering if the Pioneer DMH-Z5150BT is a sort of lower-cost follow-on to the AVH-ZL5150BT, but I can't even find specs for the opening dimensions. Does anyone know if this new HU will fit?

Here is a link to the DMH owners manual:
https://www.pioneer.com.au/wp-conten...ers-Manual.pdf

Specs begin on page 59.

I didn't take the time to compare how the features line up between the two but the DMH does NOT have a 200mm nose piece. Looks like a typical "double DIN" form factor. The chassis will likely fit the vehicle but it will need mounting adapters and spacers to fill in the front panel side gaps.

AVH-ZL5150BT
Dimensions W x H x D
Chassis 206 x 104 x 160 mm
Nose 197 x 97 x 15 mm

DMH-Z5150BT
Dimensions W x H x D
Chassis 178 x 100 x 164 mm
Nose 171 x 97 x 14 mm

Thanks for those 'nose dimensions'. I guess I'll just fork it up for the AVH, and get one that fits and looks right!

To close this out, for about $460 + $30 shipping, I ordered the unit from Fasmoto and received it in about a week. I wasn't expecting it, but the wire harness it came with was plug-and-play compatible with my car (2014 prem w/no SWC), and the R&R took me about an hour including running the new mic above the glove box, up the a-pillar, above the headliner and out the standard mic opening (I'll more neatly mount it in the plastic cover this weekend). (For my previous head-unit replacement, I had already replaced my USB port w/a standard USB/Aux adapter that plugged directly into the Pioneer).
