We went through something similar with one of our rentals 5 or 6 years ago. When it would rain it would back up the whole septic system. The whole drain field had to be redone.

What's that saying?? Oh yes, 'shit only flows downhill'.. ever considered a SUDS ? You could design it in such way that it becomes part of your garden and if done well could become a real landmark for any 'tree hugger' in your neighbourhood..

I enjoy washing my sports cars, and I want good equipment to do it. And yes, I need it to move two buckets. Those things are heavy.

I couldn't sleep, so I got up and finished the hall bathroom. I re-set the toilet with new ring, put new plastic bolts in the seat, and put a new timer on the fart fan. Good morning so far. Now I'm having a chipshot. I see a mid-morning nap today.

My problem is, I have to deal with too many different agencies. Parks Canada has jurisdiction over the river. Lower Trent Conservation Authority covers the shoreline and lands adjacent to the waterway. Environment Canada sets the guidelines to which the Ontario Ministry of the Environment must adhere to. Lastly, there’s Quinte West, the municipality I reside in. Each have their own agendas, rules, ideas as to what is best plus, fees and fines. Lower Trent sets the minimum height that my new weeping bed can be based on the highest the water table will reach in a worst case scenario. To meet the latest codes I must not dig up or disturb in any manner the old system. That earth is considered “contaminated” and requires special permits trucking and cleaning prior to disposal. Therefore the new system must be built above grade and then covered over. It has to be a new style Tertiary Septic System/ Advanced Treatment System which actual acts like a mini water treatment plant. There will be yearly inspections/costs involved not to mention maintenance fees.

That's a shame as I was of the thinking that the Canadian authorities would be more open to go 'green'.

That's the problem! They each think that their way IS the green way.

Millennial is more a state of mind than an age anyway. I know several middle ages millennials.

Well, I will agree, that the older I get, the heavier a 5 gallon pail of water gets -
