US Spec?? Don't we have different headunits than our Maple bros to the north?

I have iPhone 5, it works perfectly fine with the bluetooth & OEM mic. No problem. when I am making calls, people can hear it as clear as it is over the phone./

It's possible yours had the correct setting (ie. echo off) from the factory. For Shits/Giggles, check it out to see what it's set at.

Does anyone know the part number for the USDM (or EUDM) BRZ stock microphone which is integrated into the headliner? I think it looks so much better than the stock one for GT86/FRS which is usually mounted on the steering wheel column or sometimes even on the top-left corner of the windshield. I asked my dealer not to install the mic at all to save the interior and now thinking about installing the one from BRZ and trying to marry it with the stock Toyota unit. Have anyone thought about doing it?

I'm confused. The mic for the FR-S is integrated into the headliner.

Wow! Did not know that (because never seen an FR-S in person actually ). In European GT86s it's an ugly attacment on the top of the wheel column:

Anyway, the question stays - what's the Toyota or Subaru part number for the item which goes into the headliner?

that's interesting, I own an FR-S, and so far my co-worker/family members and friends has not complained about the sound quality.

Maybe it's the phone it self? some phone does a better job at filtering the back ground noise in a phone call better than others

I haven't had a single complaint in my 2014 FRS and I use it every day to and from work for the past 6 months. Im actually worried it wont sound as good when I install an aftermarket head unit. People can say they hear my engine noise when accelerating but thats about it. I never have to yell.

Hey Listen I have a toyota 86 and wanted to switch to the FRS stereo. Problem is I bluetooth doesn't work unless it detects a mic. so I bought a microphone en electret microphone. But I think this requires more electronics can you help me out ?
I also bought this

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...966377353.html

which is some sort of mic for surveyllance cameras., it's got inside an LM386 OpAMP but it's not working, has three wires red, black ,white .
Red I suppose was power .. from the specs on aliexpress says it requires 9- to +12vcd, then black GND, and white suppose was mic input.

so I tried wiring it this way.

MACC ---> supplies +5 vdc so useless

MIN+ --> tried first MIN+ to white did nothing
MIN- ---> tried then MIN- did nothing I also tried both

SGND --> signal ground --> wired to BLACK

sO no ideas.. if you can help would be great!
