18's or 19's ... What looks and feels best on FR-S.

Hey,

Looking to buy some wheels for my black, Scion FRS. I am in between buying 18's or 19's and was curious to see what everyone else's experience and opinion is. All help is much appreciated! Thx.

It depends what your goals are. If you just want what looks the best then 19s are the way to go. If you're mostly concerned with steering feel, handling and engine performance then you should keep your 17s. The less unsprung weight the better.

For looks I prefer 18's over 19's. I find 19's look too large unless you're running an aggressive setup (eg. rocket bunny). This is with a ~1" drop on 18's.

I think 18's look the best to me. But this is a very individual thing. I honestly don't mind the stock rims and some people hate them.

From a looks perspective, 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 w/ ~+35 offset fits pretty nice with a 1" drop. Personally I did a forged lightweight 18X7.5" square (1" drop) setup for a couple months and wen't through my 18" tires last weekend at a drifting school.

Now I'm back with my OEM 17" wheels/tires. Honestly, I can say I like the way the 17" setup feels better. The fact that the OEM tires aren't sticky performance tires actually adds to the fun of the car.
