Definitely take a walk down Embarcadero. There are lots of great restaurants on the piers and you get to enjoy the great views. If you can make it down to Jefferson St. than definitely go! Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, multiple fresh sea food spots. Tons of things to do in "The City". Ask locals while you are there. Have fun!

there is more to do than just eat... check out the california academy of sciences if you have the time. it's a bit touristy, but going across the golden gate and checking out the area just past it can be really nice. great view of the city from there. but yes otherwise the food here is pretty damn amazing.

If you go on a Thursday, you can drink as well.

I ended up spending my free day at Japantown since I used to live in Japan before moving back to the States. Pretty nice place and loved the Japan Center mall. Then rentied a bike and biked across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito to Tiburon and took the ferry back to the pier. Super cheap for the beautiful views I got to see.
