How did y'all do in the snow and ice?
Taking the new BRZ to work yesterday was a real thrill. Here in the mountains of NC, our snow totals varied from 8 or 9 inches to 17. . . and then of course there is the 66 inches that came down on Mt. Mitchell, but we don't have to drive there. Negotiating ice fields with the front zigging left and the back zagging right, and that there skid control light just a-winkin' and a-blinkin' . . . Well, you get the idea!

I don't really like brz on the snow with stock tires. But once upon a time... I was really good with my camry in the snow.

i put on actual winter tires, because summer tires turn into rocks in cold weather.

lol.. I love how they shut down DC if they get an inch of snow. The locals where I live have a special phrase to describe ground without snow on it... it's called "July 4th."
To answer the question, w/ good snow tires, the FR-S handles snowy roads very well. It's handling is very predictable and easily controllable, as long as you don't panic, enjoy the process, and view winter driving as a cross between summer driving and skiing. Barry |

Got 12 inches up here I was able to drive during the blizzard and directly after it with snow tires on, granted I was not flying around like everyone else only averaging 20 mph. But I never got stuck or lost traction.

In complete fairness to all those that got nailed that rarely ever see any snow I would not expect them to have snow tires. I would also not expect them to go for any long trips in the snow though.

Since my last car was a 240sx, the longer wheelbase of the FRS is nice in the snow.
I have snow tires though. Wouldn't have gone out on Primacys or Turanzas. |

Actually, I was raised in central NJ and went to school in Vermont. Been here 25 years and love it, but the way folks drive in the snow . . . They paid their money for their Hummer or whatever and believe they have to drive faster than in summer. My last car was a Protege and I put Conti EC DWS's on it; it did quite well in all kinds of winter travel. Let's give the twins a break, they have summer tires. I can't wait to get my use out of them so I can mount a set of all-weather performance tires on him. If we survive the coming severe weather together, that is.
Somehow, the idea of snow tires on a BRZ just ain't right. The last time I had a pair of wheels dedicated to snows was on a Buick in Vermont. But thank God for them. Now y'all be good and no sneakin' over at the Wal-Mart come midnight doin' figure eights -- the sheriff's a-watchin', y'hear?

Here in nj the part i live in got like 2 feet of snow. My car got stuck a few times and spun out once. Nothing serious by any means but it was intresting expirence for me. Right before i got my frs i had a jeep liberty with 4x4 and it did wonders in the snow. I will admit that i felt like one of those a holes that drove around like i was bulletproof. With the frs and the snow i got a better idea of what it is to drive in the snow. I couldnt make it up the hill a block away from my house. I went to go pick up my gf from work and her job didnt shovel too well so i got stuck in the parking lot and her co workers helped us out. Quiet embaressing.
