Has Anyone Brought Their Car In For Valve Spring Recall

Has anyone brought their car in for the recall yet? If so what dealer did you go to and how was your experience with them? How is their quality of work and how long did it take. Any noticeable difference after the new springs are installed? I think everyone got their letters in the mail by now and are trying to figure out which dealer to go to like me. It would be great if everyone posted their experiences here so we can save some potential headaches and worries.

I called Subaru of America to confirm i was part of the list in which indeed i was. I've called 4 different dealers and they said that they are not able to even start the service on them until late february into early march. I'm from CT

I recently dropped of my frs at the Toyota of Alhambra on 1/5/2019. Still there. They said it would be over a week to a week and a half. I’ll report back with an update when I get it back.

I got the recall notice on Tuesday. I called a nearby dealer (Glen Mills) and have a appointment in a few weeks. They mentioned that they have to order parts from Toyota for the fix. Currently their system only shows it as a full day repair. Other parts of the forum mention a day and a half so I'm curious if it'll take longer.

I need to find a way to convince someone there to also change spark plugs at the same time...

Hey Guys and gals, I got my recall notice this past Saturday, 2013 (24,000 miles). I went on Monday to Lipton Toyota in Fort lauderdale, FL. They stated one week for the work. Got called this morning stating it was ready to go. I need to wash the 86. Will see what happens.

I guess Subaru saw my post because I just got the recall notification today. Guess I'll call the dealer on Monday and see if they are even ready to do them yet.

Just fyi, in central Jersey, Haldeman and Coleman will not perform the recall if you have aftermarket headers. They'll ask that you take the parts of first before you bring it in. I actually scheduled it for the first week of February, loaner included, with Haldeman before thinking to ask and had to cancel after calling dealership 3/Victory.

Victory said it shouldn't be an issue but isn't scheduling appointments at this time since they don't have the parts.

Side note, the guy at Victory mentioned that parts and training are supposed to be completed in early February.

There's no reason this should be an issue for them. They will charge you for parts and may or may not charge you a minimal amount of labor (my dealer did it for the cost of parts) but there isn't a reason they should need convincing.

I got my car back from dealer last night. It took 2 days (was initially told 1). The service department notified me pretty early about needing to keep the car an additional day and extended the rental. I also got the spark plugs changed at the same time. They charged me about $200 for the parts and labor.

I haven't notice a difference with driving after the change. The car moves and sounds the same.
