TC105X GR86/BRZ 17x9 specific track wheels!

Weds Wheels North America is coming out with a new TC105X wheel that has a track focused offset for our beloved GR86/BRZ cars. This new wheel will be in the 17x9 5x100 size. I do not have the liberty to state the offset as Weds does not want to share info with other wheel manufacturers, but according to Weds it is a "perfect" square setup utilizing many popular 245-255 extreme summer/competition tires. "Perfect" as right in the center of the wheel well where it can maximize suspension travel & minimize lap times. According to Weds Japan's track testing, their current 17x9 +35 5x100 is not the optimal size for the ZN8/ZD8 chassis.

Weds Japan is only making 10 sets of this version of the venerable TC105X specific for the 2nd Gen BRZ/GT86. All wheels will have the same great features as production versions of the TC105X such as light weight, knurled bead, generous brake clearance & will be offered in the EJ Titan finish.

Matt at Speed Freaks USA is getting the sets & I have already paid for mine so there are only 9 or less left. These will not last long! Get your set here:

https://speedfreaksusa.com/i-2390442...fic-5x100.html

Funny thing is that I actually don't even have my GR86 yet & will probably get my TC105X wheels before my car arrives haha!

Hi Rylis! I recognize your name from S2ki, glad to see you've jumped on the GR86 board! These wheels are super tempting since i had the tc105n on my S2, but man i recall them being cheaper for that chassis?

lmao sure. only 10.

Either way, if they only make 10, big deal.
I'm sure running the secret offset instead of the +35 will be the tenths-of-a-second difference maker for all of you pro racers who scoop them up.

If it's the perfect offset I'm sure they'll go into normal production.

Hey bro! I signed up years ago in 2012 but haven't posted as I never bought a GT86 haha!

Prices have gone way up for everything due to all the global craziness unfortunately... Around $500 a wheel shipped for 17x9 TC105X is pretty much the going rate from any Weds vendors

You may remember Matt Misencik from S2ki who operates Speed Freaks USA now as well as he notified me of the wheels. I'll make a video once I get my set in.

Dude, you are totally violating the first rule of the super secret offset!

So they're expecting people to pay for them without knowing what the offset will be?

I'm in the market for 17x9s and I like the TC105X better than all other available options. Having said that, I need to know what I'm buying.

If I can get 17x9 +43 for the rear and 17x9 +36 for the front, I am 100% in haha.

Due to the tight outer rear fit and tight inner front fit, there is no one single offset that works well for both front and rear on the Gen 2. You need different offset front to rear or spacers up front.

My guess is that they're going to make them +49. TC105X are already available in that spec for S2000; maybe they'll just cut the bolt pattern for 5x100 instead

Not only would +49 be useless for inner front clearance, even with coilovers in many cases, even the rear would be an issue for inner clearance.

They need to be somewhere between +45 and +42 for the rear and between +38 and +35 for the front.

When they release we'll know for sure, though I wouldn't discount +49. It's a casting Wedsports already makes for a different bolt pattern.

17x9+49 has the same inside plane as 18x9.5+43, which is a common square size for wheels that many people run without issue provided they have coilovers (Enkei RS05RR, Volk Racing Wheels [TE37 SL even goes out to +45]): https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7535

For an order of "only 10 wheels," its not an outlandish possibility that this is a custom speedfreaksusa.com order that are simply a redrill to 5x100 (e.g. when you want a non-standard color, the manufacturer usually only sells them at a minimum order size of 10 sets).

ZN8 specific wheels I have seen so far are 18x9 + 51 for the TC4 and 18x9 +47 from Titan7.

This is strictly a Weds Wheels North America limited offset. I had initially purchased a square setup of TC105X 17x8.5 +43 5x100 from Speed Freaks USA for the GR86 that I am still awaiting. I then called Weds NA to inquire when the wheels would arrive & they mentioned 4 of those sets scheduled within a few months.

The guy I spoke with at Weds NA (thick Japanese accent, "Taz" I think is his name?) then asked me why I was getting the 17x8.5's for? as they were designed for the 1st gen GT86. I mentioned it was for the GR86 that hasn't arrived at my dealership yet. Taz then stated that WedsSport in Japan has been testing the new 17x9's & developed the new offset for the 2nd Gen GR86/BRZ. This new 17x9 is strictly for the track & is not a "flush" look that many US buyers go out to purchase & why only 10 sets made to test the market. If they don't sell these 10, then WedsSport Japan won't make them, basically supply & demand. I then told Taz that I wanted one of the 10 sets & he said that he would talk to Matt at Speed Freaks first to change my order.

I contacted Matt in the afternoon to confirm my order & he mentioned that they were getting the 10 sets. I then put up forum posts on GR86.com forum & this forum to spread the news.

Once I get my wheels & GR86 I'll make a video. If anyone is doubting, then call Weds NA in SoCal to verify. I could care less who else gets the wheels, as long as I get my set haha!

I don't think there is a magic offset that offers clearance in the rear and the front at the same time. You space the front or trim the rear or have different offsets front to back. This is assuming you are running a reasonable width tire (245/255).
