I don't think it's contamination because you would have a mess of grease on the outside way before anything made it inside. I'll stick with shock load but admit it could be bullshit. If you do cut one open, I'm really curious about what you might find.
I actually have seen that failure before at work so it is just one I was considering. No outward signs of an issue and the bearing would seize. Sent it in for failure analysis and that is what they came back with. That shaft only ran 500rpm max though. To combat the issue we went to a different seal and packed the bearing with more grease so there was not any room for foreign particles.

Reminds me of a back in the day story...

My brother once played a hand against my grandfather without looking at his own cards at all. Last round my grandfather, knowing he had a good hand, bet a million dollars on it (no he's not that rich, just wanted to teach my brother a lesson) which my brother accepted. My brother had a royal flush.

With Pai Gow there are 7 cards and a lone joker that's pseudo wild. So the odds are bit better than 5 card stud more along the lines of Texas Hold-Em or 5 card draw, but still. It's funny you said this because in October Megan hit California Casino (in old downtown Vegas) and got 5 aces (4 aces plus the joker) which was 10% of the major for $12k. I'm trying to convince her the odds of that shit are crazy like more than one in a million and is never going to happen again. But then she goes and hits a straight flush next time she plays, a royal flush the time after that wins like $800 (back in the Northeast) and then this time back down in Vegas I hit a Royal for ~$3k... it's like everytime one of us hits some kind of mini jackpot. She even said this morning "So you still trying to convince jackpots are like one in a million?"

We have a saying something like: "a man thinks that the other guys are just like him." So this means that it's not that I'm bright but you are. Thank you @humfrz you made me feel crazy good with your words.. But we know that I'm an idiot most of the time

That's neat. One of these days I'd like to get a 3D printer for little stuff like that.

It is a fun little toy. One of the guys here at work is big into scale RC trucks. I just did a jeep CJ body for him to use as a mold. He is building the body out of styrene sheets off of it.
