Remember, we've had this discussion. Midshaft swimming in molasses. Gotta be quick through neutral or the whole thing quits spinning fast.

Would you recommend redline? because I would like to replace the stock fluid in my trans but i'm iffy about going back to motul

Perfectly normal photos. Mag plugs working as designed.

Whine is something, though. Which gears? I'm driving on a compromised trans right now.

Redline was perfect until I reached the 33k mark. After that I noticed that 2nd and 3rd would grind at operating temp or cold.

I like how smooth motul is but that's about it. Amazon was giving it away so I figured I would try it.

I'll give this junk 2 weeks and see.

3rd 5th and 6th are notoriously loud above 4k.

Does the pitch of the whine follow the engine, or the rear end?

When you say fifth whines, I suspect rear end. There is zero load on the transmission in fifth. The input and output shafts are coupled together so it's a straight shot from the engine into the rear end.

Nope it does not follow the engine. I'll get a recording of it soon as I leave for work in a few.

Yes I remember. That is exactly why I asked the question and although I may not have worded it well it was not rhetorical. I could not see being the only one that never had an issue and now there are at least a couple of guys that go on record as agreeing.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I had any issues at all. It isn't very forgiving but rewards the driver when operated properly.

Someone else mentioned it here. It also takes a LONG time to break in. My synchros didn't start grabbing effectively until after about 8 Kmi and kept getting better through 20Kmi.

I've managed to experience the occasional grind in all 6 gears over the course of 27,000km and changed the fluid twice already in-between with Eneos Gear Oil. Much smoother operation than the stock oil.

It gets smoother if I shift gears quickly. When cold downshifting to 2nd gear requires a double clutch action otherwise it won't go in.

Everything seems normal to me.

Third recording is the best one. You have the same issue I have. One of the midshaft support bearings is toast. I have been told by an expert this is a common failure for this trans because there is no reaction to axial loading of the midshaft - no thrust bearing.

The whine does follow the engine rpm. It is present in all gears except fifth. Dead giveaway.
