Anyone know what this is? Resonator or cat?

So I was under my '14 BRZ today investigating the source of a metallic, tinny rattle that comes from under my the rear of my car at around 3500 rpms. I decided to snap a few pics of the exhaust while I was under there.

The dealership I bought the car from thought the car just had a MagnaFlow muffler, but it's obviously aftermarket/ custom all the way to the stock header. I can't tell if it still has the stock cat or and aftermarket cat/ resonator. Name: 20170221_160234.jpg

Awesome, thanks. It kind of looked like that to me too, but I wasn't sure. Gotta love the "custom" weld job

Other than that hard angle to the muffler, it doesn't really look that bad. "That"....lol

Magnaflow (headerback), possibly with a catless frontpipe, if the last pic you posted is of the front of the system.

Edit: I am oriented now and realized that the last pic is is taken from the engine bay looking down at the overpipe/frontpipe. So, you definitely have a catless frontpipe and aftermarket overpipe that uses a band clamp.

Also the black marks might be a leaking band clamp, or oil dripping down onto the overpipe from the cam plate. I'm leaning toward oil dripping.

I kinda recognize that resonator and shitty frontpipe with band clamp as the SRT headerback exhaust system from many years ago. It looks like someone modified it at the rear section to go to a Magnaflow muffler instead of the original dual canister design.

Yeah it's the front. The entire system is welded together instead of bolted unfortunately

Awesome, thanks for the info man! I'll replace that when I replace the rest of my exhaust. Tax return time is parts time
