As for tech, I haven't seen much checking here before you go out. It seems to occur after the fact when body parts are dragging or someone has dumped fluids on the track. |

It's funny how different organizations approach tech differently.
You have some clubs crawling under the hood, pulling on connections, checking the torque on lug nuts, shinning flashlights on struts, ripping out floor mats, pulling out any GoPro without a tether, all in the tech line. You have others who look at your tech form, without even your car present, and send you off. I don't personally consider an EZPass a safety hazard. But I kind of prefer the first approach, just so they catch the things I might have actually missed while prepping the car in partial darkness at 6:30 am. |

Friday, October 14th, NJMP Thunderbolt with Chicane - NASA NE
In the session below, I started out (first flying lap) behind a C7 Corvette (Stingray?). I'm assuming his tires were cold so while he was brutally fast on the straights, I was eating him alive in the corners for the first lap. I then had an S2000 with aero work slowly gaining on me for 2 laps and I gave him the point by. Through traffic and pace I was able to keep him in sight. And then I had a great tussle with a BMW 135i. He was faster on the straights but I made it up in other areas. Over-all, it was a great run, a lot of fun with a bit of aggression and a few small opposite lock moments here or there. Not always ideal lines and more than a few missed apexes. Just a very enjoyable session. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU-SHVkPJiw"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU-SHVkPJiw[/ame] During the afternoon, I sought out the chief instructor, Ron Solomon. As it turned out, I found him first on track, rather than in the paddock. He was lined up behind me to head out on track during a mid afternoon session. He drives a blue BRZ and I thought it would be a good opportunity. So I just drove my line for a few laps to let him observe me and then let him overtake me. (This is where the video starts). I then tucked in a drove behind him, pretty much matching his pace for the rest of the session. Well, almost the rest of the session. I realized I didn't have enough fuel to make it all the way to the end so I had to come in about 2 laps short of the checkered flag. But it was great how nearly everybody gave way to the two of us. Look out everybody--86 train coming through. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5pmifwVptw"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5pmifwVptw[/ame] It was my first time driving driving Thunderbolt with the chicane and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, during session II on Saturday (3 day weekend), I couldn't shift in or out of gear anymore. I stopped twice on track on the same lap, managed to get it going and came back to the pits. I was told it's a broken spring on the clutch, easy to fix but difficult to get to. And not something that could be done on track. So that ended a weekend of fun much too early. It's fortunate that I bought my trailer at the right time. * My fastest lap ended up being a 1.39.78, but I'm guessing with an extra 2 days to fine tune my lines, I could have gone at least a second quicker. There's always next year. |

Pretty nice angle, do you have a pic of how the camera is mounted? I mounted my Gopro on the passenger side rear window with passenger seat leaned back, but it seemed a little too far away.

It's mounted under the passenger seat belt (which is removed)
I have no pic atm.

Does anybody have AIM Solo DL data from laps on North Eastern U.S. tracks? NJMP Thunderbolt, NJMP Lightning, Palmer Motorsports Park, Lime Rock Park, Watkins Glen. Just bought the unit and would like to learn with some data from familiar tracks. Thanks in advance
