Tia - FBM Auto FR-S Review
Hi all. Thought I'd share my story and also get some help from the community.
I've finished installing the Full Blown Motorsports Base kit and have been out on the roads for about 2 weeks. I'm on my second tune from John Visconti, and already notice a big difference from the base tune. I'm running 9.5psi, with Shell 91oct (no ethanol). The car is quick although not as fast as I thought it would be. My butt dyno suggests 240-250whp. A buddy of mine has a tuned 2012 WRX sti, full 3" exhaust, running 19psi and we did several roll-ons ranging from 100-120kmh up to 200 and my car takes him every time. both starting in 4th. We haven't tried any standing starts yet, although I know he's running in the high 13's with a 0-60 around 4.8s. (I logged it) From a start, traction is a major issue which I'm still working out. I had a BMW 335i (auto) tuned to 290whp/380lb-ft. and it barely spun the exact same tires I have now (Hankook Ventus V12's 265/35), yet this thing spins in 1,2,(3 sometimes) when boost kicks in around 3500. On a side note. I'm already starting to question the transmission. (Currently a transmission check light is on, I have yet to read the code.) Coming from manual transmissions I'm familiar with the concept of letting off the boost/power when shifting gears. This happens naturally. With an auto, you typically keep your foot in it, and boost is continuous. Knowing that before driving this car boosted, my plan was to let off when manually shifting to reduce stress. What I've found though, is that this confuses the transmission, and it shifts quite slow. It seems to 'want' you to stay on it, and this is where I was hoping for some community knowledge. What is the best method for shifting the auto's, and what is the ideal RPM? Even with my foot in it, I find the transmission shifts pretty slowly at around 7,300. - Thoughts on shifting? let off / flat foot? - Ideal RPM to shift? - Would 2deg of camber reduce my traction? Thanks all.

It's not a true SMG trans, so the auto shifter is going to feel slower than your bmw. GOod luck though, I bet it's a blast to drive

I just chatted with Jeremy, the owner. Sounds like a good guy, and they plan on releasing key components based on their stress testing of this transmission. From the sounds of it, they will likely focus on strengthening the transmission with upgraded clutches and or cooling components if necessary.
...Wait and see for now...

Stickier tires=more grip.
More negative camber going straight = less grip

Funny that you bring this up. I'm in the middle of getting a refund. My butt dyno was markedly accurate. The car dyno'd Yesterday at 214hp, with AFR dropping well below 10. The graph is horribly shaky which indicated terrible timing as well.
Very unimpressed. The good news is we have a great tuner ready to take up the challenge soon and I have positive hopes it will go well. Now if John would just give me a refund...
