None serious, but certainly something that is going to be reported to the buying public.

We've updated our reliability stats for the FR-S to include owner experiences through December 31, 2013. This puts them about eight months ahead of other sources.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 FR-S: 54, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 59, 2

We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

To see the repairs behind these stats, and to sign up to help improve this information:

Our reliability stats for the FR-S now include owner experiences through March 31, 2014, making them nearly a year ahead of other sources.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 FR-S: 50, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 64, 2

Thank you, once again, everyone who has been helping. Next update in August.

Most of the repairs I'll bet are crickets & tail light condensation related.

Idle dip, fuel pump chirp (crickets?), and tail light condensation.

Reliability and reported issues will stop potential buyers from purchasing this car. I was ready to purchase, saw two new cars that had "chirping" and idle issues, and I got something else. If reliability goes up, I will trade my car.

The chirping isn't a reliability issue, it's just an undesirable quirk. The idle issue has already been fixed with a software update.

So you got a Dodge because you were worried about reliability...now that is funny

I'm simply going to say what I've learned this year in school in AP Psychology and Statistics, "Correlation Does Not Imply Causation". This really should be a reason not to but the the twins, it simply says that the issues are only prevalent in 33% of the cars in truedeltas population of 78 cars. If we look at my daily driver it has literally the same stats: http://www.truedelta.com/2007-Honda-...-histories-110
(keep in mind that was also the new generation of the CR-V)

I highly doubt that if you are the real target of this car (the gearheads who want cheap long term reliable rwd fun) fuel pump chirps and rattles will stop you from getting one. I really don't trust reliability sites because sometimes there statistics don't really educate you well I would rather ask actual owners what their problems were.

You could make an argument that the type of person buying this car is unusually picky. Reference the people with multiple fuel pump replacements.

I have a very early production FRS with NO chirping, NO problems,(45000 km.) except for the tail light design flaw which I fixed with snow man snot.
And I track the car hard regularly!

The inflated repair numbers must be due to the minor chirping and tail light condensation issues.

I dread my first spark plug change in another 3 years though !

What makes this website fantastic is the ability for users to drill down into the details and see exactly what the issues are. For example, if the issues are things like tail light condensation rather than body panels cracking, that influences my ability to make a decision about whether or not that issue is "major". Consumer reports and other reliability surveys do not give you any granularity of problems. I wish more owners on here were registered members and recorded their issues (or just as importantly, lack thereof).

^ this

I agree that if someone wants an FR-S, the problems people have been reporting shouldn't dissuade them.

These minor glitches (that never leave you stuck) are magnified by (from what I noticed here) whiners whom:

1. Never had a new car (especially a new model -like they never have glitches! If you have no tolerance for non reliability issues spend more money on an existing model and do your homework).
2. Think they purchased a Lexus (it's still a sub $30k Subaru!!).
3. Expected Corvette performance (it's a reliable NA four banger! Don't be an idiot and do your homework before you make a substantial purchase like buying a car -are there morons out there that complain their Miatas are slower than their old Camaros? NO! because they knew what they were getting into!!).
4. Are under the impression their previous car was perfect (you can find negatives on ANY car).
5. Rant and rave about these glitches then post inaccurate statistical data, between the skewed data and said data's misinterpretation the twins can come across as something from GM (ie Consumer Reports' garbage IN/garbage OUT survey data).

I strongly feel Toyota/Subaru should be more active with remediating these glitches instead of making owners worry about their tenuous partnership and releasing special edition based on the JDM parts bin every few months. Has anybody thought of sending blast emails to those in the Toyota Subaru hierarchies (starting with district managers on up) that can exert some kind of influence to address these (non reliability) glitches? <I left out SCION because I think they're useless> I've read too reports of part swaps that provide a temporary fix -just because they don't sell like Camrys doesn't mean we should be ignored.
