Ah it’s not my daily so I don’t drive it much. The cars 2 years old and I only have 4K miles on it.

Your OEMs are probably in great shape still with 4k of daily driving. Lifespan depends on the types of roads you drive on and if you're tracking the car. With heavy track usage then can go pretty quick.

The Bilsteins are IMO a solid upgrade over the PP sachs struts, but up to you if you want to replace them so early!

Thanks so much for the info! I’m not quite sure I want to replace them so early. As for the roads here.... they’re terrible lol. Lots of potholes. I try my best to avoid them but sometimes that’s just not possible. There no track here... yet. But now the B6 is now on the top of the list of options.

Bilsteins are a LOT smooover over rough surfaces than the PP/Sachs dampers. I was amazed at the improvement in ride... If you don't like the ride in your car and have a few Xmas $$$ left over, I can highly recommend the Bilsteins

I'm on Swift Spec-R springs, 4.4 kg/mm F, 5.3 kg/mm R, about 1.2" lower than stock.

Andrew,

I went through the entire RCE SS1 thread and wanted to get your thoughts on the b6 vs the ss1?

RCE SS1
stiffer springs (better for the track)
camber plates (if you do need more camber)
wheel clearance (if running wider wheels/tires)
adjustable damping (if you like adjusting things)
adjustable ride height (and can go a little lower)

Bilstein B6
used with softer springs (slightly better ride at least when paired with OEM springs)
simple (easy set up)
little bit cheaper

Both are durable and fairly comfortable. The SS1s are about as "easy" as it can get in terms of living with a coilover, but there is still more set up getting the little things right (which we can help with). The camber plates are quiet, they ride well, and they have a warranty. But...B6 are just super simple which can be a good thing for some people. Nothing to mess with other than getting a proper alignment.

More adjustability can be nice, but simplicity is actually a big priority for a lot of people (and sometimes you have a rulebook making those decisions for you). Depends on what you're looking for...

I am 57k. When I hit 80k, I see yellows and B6 in my future. I thought about the super streets but no track for this car, just DD and some spirited runs here or there.

I have BidenBucks/KamalaCash melting a hole in my checking account. So, it may be down to a coin flip - B6s with comfy springs or a flexfuel kit/tune.

The only thing I’ve wondered is if there’s a difference in the front B6 vs B8 compressed length at which bumpstop(Bilstein internal) contact is made and if that would have a noticeable handling difference. I think RCE may have brought that up in other threads. Overall I’ve been happy with SpecR/B6 on an Evo and the BRZ. Will probably get a set for the FiST soon too.

Photo dump from the weekend. Bear with me, lots going on over here.

You can see a few small differences here between B6 fronts and stock. The B6 is kind of shifted downwards, but things do line up in terms of attachment points and where the spring sits. Overall stroke is roughly the same.

I did not take apart the fronts to measure the internal bumpstop.

The rear spring seats for the BRZ are a separate piece.

This is a crap picture, sorry. The rears line up with each other pretty closely. OEM rear bumpstop and dustboot get transferred over to the Bilsteins.

I wish they had the nice blue Bilstein dustboots, but they don't do that anymore.

Installed with some nice adjustable endlinks (OEM work fine too)

Thats very nice Andrew.

Now go have a nice drive and let us have a nice detailed review from you.

I would have loved red springs, to look like the STI Bilstein kit.

Also, can you post pictures of the car to show the ride height change from stock?

Im curious about the drop and if the forward rake is still maintained.

Thanks a lot.
