Someone mentioned this at a meet tonight with the Kraftwerks kit. In for the response. :P

Your tuner should be able to tune your car without an aftermarket MAP sensor. The factory MAF is never replaced under normal cirumstances.

Most tuners will tell you to get a MAP sensor and tune the car via speed density, because this makes their work very easy. They don't want to spend the time re-doing the VE tables to be specific to your setup, so that you can have a MAF based tune.

The Jackson Racing Factory tune is MAF based. The stock BRZ/FRS is MAF based.

The CSG BRZ has a hybrid MAF/MAP based tune, and can run in either mode or both, so that we can maximize the benefits of both; we have our cake and eat it too.

Got a quick question for CSGMike: I have just come back from my first track session after my JRSC install. I run the JR factory tune at the moment but my oil temps are through the roof. 2 laps in and I hit 260 and it kept climbing. Slowed down to drop the temps and tried to keep it below 240. What can I do to keep the temps down? I have the oil cooler as well and am running 5w30 oil. Ambient temps tonight were about 110 so that does not help.
Any thoughts or suggestions

What kind of oil cooler do you have. What part of the country are you at?

You need a bigger cooler. A nice big series-9 20-row will probably cut it. If it doesn't, you can run the one you have and the 20-row in series, but you also might start struggling with oil pressure.

Has anybody had an issues with the rotrex oil reservoir leaking during track use? I ran SoW today and noticed oil leaking on the top of the reservoir after the first session. I cleaned and retightened both the banjo with copper washers and the plastic cap, went out for the second session and it was still leaking. I went from Max to Min in 3 sessions and decided to call it a day since I forgot extra fluid. I've not had any problems during street use, but have noticed some fluid on the top of the reservoir. I periodically check fluid level and there's no significant loss, only under track conditions. Any help would be appreciated!

Tony

mine was doing the same thing when i first got it installed, i just put too much oil on it. it will eventually level out to the right amount over time.

We've tested in 115F without hitting 260. What is the exact brand and model/formulation of oil you are using?

You may have slightly overfilled the system. THis is common, since the proper level inside the reservoir is actually very low, as per the dipstick. This unnerves people, and it's often overfilled, leading to overflowing when the fluid gets hot.

Total Quartz 9000 5w30. It is the same as the specified OEM 0W20 oil

I think you need to go thicker on your oil and found your issue. Mike nailed it. You can get away with a 0w20 on a street car, daily driven, but the second you do any sort of highly spirited driving or tracking, it will roast.

Agreed, which is why I am running 5w30. Do I have to go higher?

May want to try a different brand. I could be wrong though. Maybe some of the tracking folks here could better help, but to me that sounds like the right weight but I've seen people go even higher depending on conditions.
