I remember picking it up from reading the chapters of my history book that the teachers skipped over. I was always learning, but never what they wanted me to.

I know what I like when I see it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "The $12 Million Stuffed Shark: The Curious Economics of Contemporary Art" by Don Thompson.
From memory it was a great explanation of what you just said.

False. But certainly what it takes to be a successful "artist"... I think in part it's backlash against the slow exclusion of the arts from education.
Art is what makes you look twice at a car or feel particularly "it" in an outfit. It's so very many of the things that take existence beyond survival. And it's far more who are capable than are led to believe so.
Of course, the gallery scene is all about the act and the politics and the BS. That's what the buyers make it. The performance is part of what they pay for. Just like going to the theater in a sense.
...yes I have a fine art degree.

Ended up getting a $20 (on thanksgiving sale) pre-lit 4ft tree. You definitely get what you pay for with these things, lol.

Looks like he feels the same about art dealers as I do about car dealers. "...fear that the dealer will treat you as an unwelcome intruder, or worse, as an idiot, and will patronize you."

None of that is the art, and it's a damn shame. Still, a girl's gotta eat.

lol... I hope they don't find out about the tree. There would be hell to pay even if it doesn't exist.
