Me on the other hand? I have to brute force and simply get TONS of lap time in ONE car to get within his range in the same car.

In the end, for me, it's the pursuit of improvement that keeps me going. How can I do this better? And to an extension to my students, how can I get them better now and keep them going to improve continuously as well? As opposed to burn them out in one session.

It is entirely plausible on the low limit platform like the FRZ for a no-name driver to be almost tied with a God level driver like Senna simply because there's only so much performance to be had (assuming exact same car). On the other hand, put the same drivers behind a F1 car and the gap becomes exponentially bigger.

People forget good drivers are not a constant -xx.xxx seconds faster than the average human. They're just fast but the physics still dictate they are limited by the platform.
Agreed here 100%. I always wondered if we'll ever have the technology to add all these variables into a simulation, and it spits out the absolute fastest possible lap time physically possible in set specific conditions.

I would LOVE to be able to race Senna at Monaco in a sim rig that as realistic as it gets to see how STUPID fast he was compared to me.

My favourite story about him was when he crashed there (after leading everyone by a mile) and the team berated him for pushing so hard with the lead. He countered with the fact that a wall had moved. At the time, he was still fairly young and the team thought "Yeah right, what a dumb excuse." and he DRAGGED the entire team out to the corner and made them measure it.

Sure enough, the wall did move out by a few MILLIMETERS because someone had crashed into it earlier and it messed up his line.

Think about that.

There is software that will continually update and process what YOUR fastest theoretical lap could be, by extrapolating data from your fastest sector times.

I was told that car also had a $5,000 suspension on it that had been set up specifically for TMP.

It was on Mann Engineering coilovers, not sure if it was the 3 ways or not. The 3 ways are $5k, the other model is around $2k.

They weren't custom made for the track at all in either case, and if you're not setting up the dampers on adjustable shocks for the track you're at you're wasting the whole point of having adjustable shocks.

Went out Friday morning to get some laps in, previous PB was a 1:26.9 on track addict with my phone as gps (not very accurate) so I would say closer to a 1:27-28.

All lap times were recorded with an Aim Solo DL2

Started off the morning with a 1:26.8 right off the bat, progressively started going faster as the day went on.

The fastest time I got on video was a 1:24.82 which is linked here:

I ended up working my way to a 1:23.83 which I was stoked about!

Engine is completely stock and only mods are wheel/tire and brake pads/rotors

Spec List:

17x9 +35 RPF1 with 245 40 17 RE71R
GLOC R16 Front Brake pads
Stoptech Cryo treated blanks (fronts only)
Wagner powerstop rear brake pads
Stock rear rotors
Endless RF650 Brake Fluid
Sparco Sprint Racing bucket seat
Stock motor
Custom single exit Cat-back exhaust (electronic valve)
Aim Solo DL2

These stock suspension FRZ's look like they have more cornering grip than my lowered car. Makes me wonder if I've ruined my roll centre. This is why I need to hire a race engineer.

Here's my official 1:22.864 in competition:

That doesn't look much like my rookie laps last night. No timing.

Your car looks very well balanced in that video. What coilovers are you running?

Im pretty confident that I can dip into the 22's with my current setup

That's probably more of the issue than roll center alone, those won't be sprung/damped for track use and you're probably giving up a decent amount of grip.

Coilover set up to coilover setup across the board it looks like we have gave up something vs the stock suspension, considering their times

This is why we experiment and collaborate! Once I'm done fixing my car, I'm going to try a higher ride height and see how it handles. I was planning on upgrading my coilovers at some point, but this may be the case of an S2000 where it has very competent suspension right out of the box.
