The stripped down one with steel wheels and black door handles? Never was going to happen here in the states, but it would be cool if they did offer it.

Just get the premium BRZ and rip out the Navigation system...LMAO!

EDIT: unless you meant it as that you liked the black door handles then maybe... but you would probably have to buy it as the stripped version... if its even available to you subie guys over here....
I actually like the black handles and mirrors :/ Probably no luck for Australians because apparently there will only be one model here

Sti does a great job putting together cars ready to dominate on the track.

In house parts bin? you've been reading to many magazines. Everything from the engine block, heads, to the brakes, suspension, axles, differentials, seats, it's all SPECIAL FOR THE STi? DOESN"T COME ON OTHER CARS?

How i that a parts bin? Parts bin=bmw
Very american ...Sigh....sometimes i wonder why i even bother reading your posts. Fine ill entertain you.

Magazines...i don't know what magazines you read. I only read art books and engineering magazines. I haven't been subscribed to any car magazine since 2000.

STi is NOT associated with turbos. But do you know why most WRX STis have a turbo? Because they are built on the WRX platform, the eco counterpart. Not talking about Impreza! NO NO NO NO NO!

The EJ257 is a north american engine found in the current WRX STi was built out of the EJ255. EJ257 and EJ255 are are virtually the same engine with different tuning methods. The same engine was found in the Forester STI and the Legacy STI. Again...im going to say..PARTS BIN.

The misconception is THE BRANDING!

When Subaru releases an STI variant of their performance models we get;
WRX STi
Forester STi

When the actual inhouse tuning shop STi releases a serious car through their parent company Subaru..we get.
S201
22b
S204
S206
S402
etc..
Which usually breaks the gentlemen agreement and is offered in limited production run.

Do you see the difference?

While STi and Subaru are virtually same company..they are still different entities entirely. STi does not manufacture cars..they only improve what is already offered to them. Subsequently when Subaru asks STi to offer something for a production trim..they are branded tS "tuned by STi". And may or may not offer anything in the performance sector than bolt on parts bin performance items from their inhouse shop. Legacy 2.5GT ts, BRZ STI (ts).

What do you think is going to happen when Subaru asks STi to offer a STi trim to the GP/GJ impreza, i can honestly say they are not going to slap on a turbo on it. !!!!!ITS NOT A WRX!!!!!! Impreza tS branding is likely.

So again...very few cars offered by subaru has ever been touched or tuned by STi regardless of branding. This is what its ment by North American Misconception.

Wings,

It appears to be the difference of offering a "performance package" vs. a fully modified car that has actually been "breathed on" (a la BMW 3er w/ M sport pack vs. M3). However, the engines you speak of offered in STI products are performance tuned by Subaru and not STI, correct??

LED's are std. fare on the Limited for the U.S. market., not the Premium. however, seeing these LED's as an accessory brings hope that SOA might do the same for the BRZ accessories catalog here.

Are you sure you're not talking about the fogs? I know fogs are only on the limited but both premium and limited BRZs will have the LED strip

Premium from the Portland auto show:

fogs. this is getting weird. i guess i've spent too much time looking @ what are really JDM spec cars....because the USDM cars have the LED's in the front bumper that some JDM cars don't but have the round halogen fogs.
