Agree it’s not worth adding weight to try to improve the weight balance. It was more of if the change from the 1st gen bothers you, there are useful ways to bring it back inline with the 1st gen (especially if you value having a spare). For me my BBK prevents me from using the spare anyway so I deleted my spare. Agree it’d be great if they offered a 2 seat SWB version of the car.

Engine feel Gen1 vs Gen2 comparison
Yea not when you compare MT to MT for the same trim:
EDIT YEP I WAS WRONG. Looks like I’ve had the 2815 lbs stick in my head for a long time and I misread the chart I linked Fixed: 2020 limited MT: 2798 lbs 2022 limited MT: 2835 lbs 37 lbs. https://static.fzinternal.com/pdf/br...subaru/brz.pdf https://www.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/models.html Last edited by Yoshoobaroo; 01-20-2022 at 03:24 PM. |

You're looking at 2019 "premium" weight vs. 2022 limited.
From your links to Subaru brochure data: 2019 Limited MT: 2798 lb 2022 Limited MT: 2835 lb Difference = 37 lb Closer to +40 lb. heavier than +17 lb. Car and Driver "as-tested" BRZ Limited weights: 2017: 2777 lb. 2022: 2843 lb. Difference = a lot more... It's a heavier car despite the removal of the ~26 lb. spare tire Quote:

Gen 1's came in at constant low 2700's and high 2600's. Anthony (who gave his BRZ the biggest diet on this forum) is a good example and had his car weigh in at about 2680 prior to any modifications. |

That 2744 weight at 1/4-tank and with "trunk junk" removed is consistent with the brochure weight of 2815 lb. for the Premium model, minus 60 lb. of fuel and 11 lb. of trunk junk. But *damn* at that weight distribution, 56.3% front... We are verging on pickup truck territory here, way worse than modern nose-heavy V8 musclecars... Quote:

Here's a 2013 (I think Limited?) model in comparison from Vorshlag. 3/4 tank of gas and includes a spare 55.9/44.1 F/R distribution. Drop the spare and remove some gas and you'll get to the same distribution as a Gen 2. I'm really not sure how it's any worse than Gen 1. |

Again, not a huge deal except I would have loved to see it move in the other direction... Still number 1 car on my list of new cars I would buy. |

I bet if you did a blind test with the car with and without the trunk junk, you'd never know. |

Probably but I intend to find out. Can I just do that, please? I'll follow the 86 platform experts around here but I'm also going to do my own thing. Stupid or not because it makes me happy lol. |

It makes complete since to try stuff out on your own. That way you know if it works/makes a difference or not.
