I think Husky has the lifetime warranty too. They may break more often than snapon but at least you can afford them to start with. Been a long time since I broke a socket

The number one thing you'll need is a buddy to drive you to the Auto Parts store, if you need a tool/part, or to work for a week if you can't seem to put the car back together once you've taken it apart, or another vehicle that runs great as a backup... Trust me, I've worked on vehicles for over 30 years and a few times I was very glad to have another vehicle to get me to work, when my truck just won't work right.

If you are working on a vehicle that has a computer, you really should find a qualified mechanic first. Find one that won't mind if you watch him/her fix your vehicle, and ask a lot of questions. And, YouTube videos aren't very helpful, unless they are working on your exact vehicle (in the video), and they tell you step by step, with tool sizes, and everything.

And, ask us.

I have a little collection of broken Craftsman sockets on my shelf. They gave me plenty of warning though. Stretched them a few times until the chrome plating peeled off before they popped.

Yep, get to know somebody at a local auto shop and when your car needs work, take it in to them.

Back-in-the-day you could tune up a car with a timing light, a dwell meter, a feeler gauge, 3 wrenches, a spark plug socket and two screwdrivers. Throw in a 3/4" socket and a torque wrench and you could overhaul the engine.

Today with ECUs, ECMs, VSCs, TCs and all that other computer controlled stuff ...... ......

That's what my BRZ is and why I don't fuck with it at all, bone stock with nice wheels. "Racecars" are all broken and I'm too lazy and it's too damned hot to mess with them.

And yes some of the HF power tools are crap, while others I bought have lasted me over 10 years with heavy use.
But for hand tools - HF is fine if you are not a pro.

Then you are doing it wrong.
The lifetime warranty means that when they break you take them back and trade in for brand new

Flashed my FR-S back to stock since I'm selling it. Holy crap, it feels so slow with the stock tune. I left the VVT alone, barely leaned the AFRs out, and had max ignition advance set to the OFT stage 1 tune (with greater knock correction just in case), but the power difference is very noticeable.

I only use Harbor Freight for disposable chinese shit, which is what they sell. Need to make a custom bent obstruction wrench, HF. Need a real tool to do a proper job all the time, every time, almost anything else. Craftsman tools are what I use mostly and they have never let me down except when I used them improperly and that screwdriver I was using as a chisel was exchanged for a new one no questions asked.

To act like the extra cost of Snap On is for nothing but a name is ridiculous. Is it overpriced, of course it is, all hype, not hardly.

Always refer to the factory service manual. A Haynes manual is a distant second but it may also offer some tips not given in the factory publication.

This x1000. The expensive tool that does it right will save many hours and headaches.

And buy Craftsman to start. Lifetime warranty. Fairly cheap. Take it back to any Sears when it breaks and they hand you a new one. Just make sure it is broke beyond repair even if you have to finish the job yourself.
