SBD announces the new 54mm G500X Ball-Bearing Turbo Kit!

We have been privately testing our latest ball-bearing turbo option, which spools INCREDIBLY fast on the FA20. I would go as far as to say it drives like a N/A V8 vs a turbocharged engine. The turbocharger is incredibly responsive off idle & power is found at any RPM, in any gear.

What's impressive is that this new turbocharger makes MORE peak HP compared to the now discontinued 58mm SBD500X turbocharger, while spooling up hundreds of RPM faster.

We were so impressed with the response that we installed (2) of these turbochargers on our 4.1L Stroker GTR and headed to the drag strip where we went 8.4 @ 161mph.

The car put down 1135whp on a Mainline Hub Dyno, very impressive for 54mm inducer compressor wheels. (rough 565whp per turbo output)

We updated the turbine wheel aerodynamics as well with a brand new turbine wheel design, which allowed us to reduce wheel size & blade count, increasing spool & reducing backpressure.

All in all, this will be the fastest spooling 500+ whp turbo kit on the market for the FT86 crowd.

The best part of all, we've made this change without raising the price of the turbo kits. They will remain at $2999 complete with TurboSmart Raceport BOV & come with FREE Shipping worldwide!

I can't wait to get some drag strip data on our Subaru BRZ. #ComingSoon

Quick overview of the changes made to our latest turbocharger upgrade for our 2013+ Scion FRS/ Subaru BRZ/ Toyota 86 Turbo Kits!

It's awesome to see that you guys are busting ass and still working to stay ahead of the curve while providing an affordable option.

To be blunt though, you'll need to provide some test data from our platform; I know you're working on it, but you'll lose the interest of people by not starting out with the data.
Can't wait to see it regardless

I'll have more data to share before the end of the month on the FA20 platform.

Lots of irons in the fire & we had the GTR kits ready to hit the market about 60 days ago, so we had to wrap up testing on that platform first.

The FT86 kits launched yesterday, so we'll spend the next few weeks focusing on this platform

I realize it’s not commercially viable or maybe even not possible. But I would love if this kit was CARB legal

I need turbo goodness in my life

It is now a ball-bearing CHRA with a 5-axis CNC Point Milled Billet Compressor Wheel

The stock Exedy clutch is rated for the stock engine’s torque. I have their Stage 1, which is rated at 166wtq. I am running a Harrop kit and an Ace 150 with E85 at a bar of boost, so the clutch is capable of handling a lot more torque. Similarly, the stock clutch can support more. With that said, most supercharger owners tend to upgrade the clutch over 8 psi. If someone is tracking their car then they would typically upgrade with any forced induction. A turbo tends to add more torque than a supercharger, so anything over 5 psi might require an upgrade.
