I guess if it's a negotiaion that makes sense in a way. I have run in to it at many jobs that just pay shitty (no matter who shows up) and they don't want to tell you until you already jumped through a bunch of hoops though too.

The biggest insult is this fucking trend of asking for salary history up front. Fuck those assholes.

Yep, I hear that. Kids today that hang on an open refrigerator door, deciding what they want, never had to carry ice to put in the ice box.

Oh, yes, get the ice tongs, go out to the ice house, open up the door, reach down, sweeping the cob webs and spiders aside, uncover a block of ice from the sawdust packing and lug it into the kitchen to the ice box.

......and it was uphill both ways ......

It may not be what you are thinking of, but I remember the "old" days of the interweb where I could do an online search (no google then) and have no hits or have a page or two of hits for common topics!!
Now it is millions, and 95% of them are duplicates!

2 and 3 are wrong too, btw. there is no cooling, only heat exchange. It has to go somewhere, don't forget about the coils on the back of, or underneath the fridge.

I meant there is no "right" answer that I am looking for. I am just looking for how they come up with the answer right or wrong.

I didn't forget the coils nor the heat exchange but this is where assumptions come in and they can be misleading. You are assuming it is a perfectly even exchange. Unless the heat exchange is working in a precise one to one conversation there is going to be either a total cooling or heating effect. You would have to either prove that assumption or be prepared to live with any extremely small deviation from it. My personal theory would be that although the perceived effect in the area in front of the fan would be that it is cooler the room as a whole would actually be getting warmer. Even if the fridge has a perfect one to one heat exchange the fan is also adding heat while at the same time not cooling anything. It would take several combined measurements to confirm what is happening in the room though.

When I used to get a support ticket from someone in Quebec, the user would ask upfront in poutine accent "so uhh... how much do you get paid uhhhh... doing this uh.. job ya?" and I thought that was kinda rude.

I don't care what a company has paid other people. I know what I'm worth in my field (and it's around $10k more than I make right now). When I asked what I'd be making when I interviewed for a new job last year (same one mentioned to @krayzie) they offered me 6k less than what I'm currently making, with no company vehicle and worse benefits, I actually laughed out loud during the interview and then apologized to them for taking up time that could have been better spent on another candidate.

Edit: FWIW I'm a week-long course away from being able to get hired on by any number of big USA companies and make some pretty decent money, and be able to sit behind a desk.
