Manual transmission extension housing bushing - source?

The bushing at the rear of the extension housing on my manual transmission is worn/damaged. The bushing supports the front driveshaft yoke. Subaru doesn't show the part in the breakdown. It comes with a new extension housing, but I don't need all of that.

I've removed the extension housing and driven the old bushing out, so I know it's replaceable.

Anyone have this issue and found a source for that bushing?

Hoo, boy. That's a bit outside my practical experience. After some google, I have a feeling that there might be some hidden nuance to this job. I know a transmission guy here to whom I would probably take my extension housing and ask. The chance to pick his brain would totally be worth paying him for his time.

@VerusEric, can Verus Engineering share some wisdom pro bono?

If that is worn, my guess is that something else further internal is also worn/damaged. The output shaft in the transmission should not be moving that much to cause this bushing to fail/wear. Either that or the snout of the drive shaft to the output shaft is severly worn/loose causing this wear.

I have not seen this before.

I'm sure I have a spare tail shaft somewhere I could sell though.

Yep, @kgresham I agree with those guys, something else has messed up those pieces real bad, and that something else is most likely messed up which might have messed something else also.

I suggest you get a new or rebuilt transmission.

(I have found out over my 70 years of wrenching, that there comes a time where you just should give up trying to fix something and toss it in the junk pile - )

Pretty sure that bushing of yours is actually a journal bearing. Might be able to check a bearing shop for one like it. I have a tail shaft I could sell though with the back bearing in good condition. But I would also check that your output shaft bearing on your mid case is also good. And that the bearings on the input shaft aren't worn. Unless it wore out because of low oil

The one pictured is definitely a bush not a journal bearing.

All bushings are bearings. Not all bearings are bushings. That being said, it's a bushing.

Now to be more helpful, if you take the bush to your local bearing retailer they may be able to match up a glacier style bush of the same size. Be sure to get the bronze lined one not the teflon as the gearbox oil will cause issues with the teflon lining.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm having the transmission rebuilt because I found metal flakes (not dust) on the drain plug magnet, but would like to avoid paying nearly $300 for the housing just to get the bushing. Sad because similar bushings for other transmissions are typically $5 or less.

McMaster.com has a similar bronze bushing that could be made to fit, but it's for high load slow speed operation. I'm not sure it would survive this application.

I'm a little concerned the one piece driveshaft may have caused this.
