1. Manual because I feel more connected to the car and it's just more fun on a sporty car
2. next car i'm up in the air. I might buy an econobox civic or maybe i'll get a manual wrx?

I learned how to drive manual on a beat up 2001 Mazda 626 (with a v6!!!! That car was very rare) on my own. When my dad would ride with me, he'd only laugh when I'd stall or miss a shift and not offer any kind of help or tips. I'm glad for that. I drove that thing daily for 2 years. If I could do it all again with buying my FRS, I'd probably still go AT though. As fun as it was driving stick, there were too many downsides. For one, only 3 of my friends drive stick and 2 of them, and I quote "might stall it a bunch, I've only done it 3 or 4 times". So, if we went out to drink and drive a car there, I'd have to DD. My girlfriend can't drive stick and I'd be mortified at the thought of her flooring it with the clutch still pushed in. Also, it's nice to not have to worry about my ankle being fucked up at the end of a drive (tore a couple ligaments last summer, still having trouble with putting weight on it and moving it around more often than I care to admit).

With all that said, if this was my weekend and fun only car and I had a DD, I'd consider manual, but at the end of the day, it's a fun car regardless of transmission choice. I test drove the MT, loved it but ended up going with the auto for the reasons above.

Edit: also, my mom refuses to drive manual because she's terrible at it. This way, my dad and her can take the car out when I'm on the road with work and they can enjoy it.

Manual, hands down. If I wanted to drive an automatic I'd get a Sedan or an SUV or something. I have had an even mix of both MT and AT, but for me, it's a no brainer when it comes to sports cars.

1. Yes, I did bring religion into this thread. Hahaha
2. Generally, manuals get better gas mileage than auto. Yes, this is a GT86 forum but I thought the guy was asking regardless make/model.
3. Tcoat brought sports into this thread w the sexy ref pic. Thank god for that... Oops, there I go with the religion thing again.
4. Manual transmission in a well made car, which excludes most US brands, will always be more fun than auto... Wait for it ...wait for it...

You are too nice. You really want those people driving your car? Manual is a good way to filter who can get behind the wheel of your car, so we need to add that to the "benefits" list.

1) I like to get drunk. One may say I have a problem with consumption of the sauce.

2) it's a car. Someone may as well enjoy it if I'm not going to be.

God @Tcoat, you bring this forum some much needed humor sometimes and it makes me laugh so much.

To OP's question:

1. Manual because it's the cool thing to do.

(On a serious note, it's because I like to have control of everything of my car. Manual is just pure fun and puts everything in your hands - being that this is my first manual car and the fact that I learned on the BRZ, it is awesome!)

2. I'd probably go for another manual.

I have another convert and will soon have an army.
Then the universe is mine!

Come on now! This sort of thing can't be forced. It has to grow organically of it's own accord.
It will happen all on it's own when the time is right!

That is entirely possible but I don't care. The next and probably last performance car that I am going to buy was just released with only a manual option. After its in the garage I don't care what happens with the future of automobile design.
