So… Can you clarify what pieces in the photo are included? Also, do you know why Crutchfield says this is not compatible with the BRZ?

crutchfield indicates that only 5-1/4"-6.5" woofers(doors) and 3/4"-1" tweeters(upper dash) fit in our vehicles. it also says there's no rear speakers in this vehicle.

so the midrange is 'not compatible', despite being fully bolt-in.

crutchfield always airs on the side of extreme caution in terms of their installation instructions, and their compatibility list will always reflect that.

this focal system is a very nicely put together system. it does take a little extra effort in terms of wiring and setup, but it's well worth it for the final result.

So this includes the 3 way speakers in the photo, crossovers, subwoofer, amp? Or not everything in the photo?

(And these replace door speakers, and two speakers in the dash - tweeters plus midrange?)

Sorry I’m pretty new to car audio.

Sorry, wrote too quickly, didn’t see that you were being helpful and weren’t the OP!

yes, the 6.5" woofers would replace the door speakers, the 3.5" replace the dash midranges, and the tweeters would replace the dash tweeters.

you would need to re-wire from the radio to the crossover box(it directs the frequencies to the right speakers), and run 3 new wires per side to the respective speakers.

And the factory amplifier is not enough to power them, right? (Since it just powers the door speakers?) Would need to use an aftermarket amp?

the factory amp has filtering built into that makes it only amplify low frequencies. so it's not compatible without some extreme internal circuit board modification that's much more complex than installing an aftermarket amp.

there's a thread in the car audio section where one guy started digging into what it'd take, but we all sorta lost interest in it because it's not just a simple bypass, and requires significant circuit board work..

you can power these off a factory or aftermarket radio by splicing into the speaker wires just behind the radio. but using an amplifier is what i generally prefer to get the best sound of upgraded speakers.
