Has anyone tested the top speed of their car yet? I tried to top out my car today to see how well it would do. I made it almost all the way to red line in 6th gear but seemed to hit a "wall" and it just seemed to die off. And not like it was struggling at those last few RPM's. It was pulling hard and then it seemed like I lost power but only in 6th gear.

My list of mods are as follows:

Innovate Stage 2 w/ 70mm pulley
Nameless header w/ full 3" exhaust
Nameless intake tube
Delicious E85 tune
4.56 final drive

Like I said before, it pulls hard in every gear to red line except for 6th gear. I hit 140mph at 6800 rpms. I know that leaves only 600 more rpms and whoop dee doo but it still leaves me wondering why all of a sudden the power drop in those last 600 when it seems to be pulling hard up until that point.

You hit the limiter.

I've only dared to hit 135 in mine and it felt like it had plenty left in it.

Same here. Felt like I still had enough to go that bit further. Then it just dropped off.

I really think it's due to the fact that while not boosting, the air is channeled through such a small hole, and when you give it just enough gas, or not enough, the vacuum/throttle controlled bypass valve kinda freaks out, causing the stuttering.

It's only really severe while cold, but once normal operating temps have been reached it's waaaaay less pronounced.

If you really wanna test it take the car for a highway ride and set the cruise at 75mph. Of your engine isn't totally warmed up it's gonna stutter like crazy IF you, say, climb a slight knoll such as an overpass. While the terrain is flat it's deliciously smooth, bit small hill climbs will trigger it, I think, due to the fact that it needs to boost based on the position of the throttle.

Feather the throttle and you will see. Try not to go Into boost as long as you can and it will pop up.
Bill -

If it helps, this sounds a lot like the issues I was experiencing with the logs i sent you a week or so ago. I haven't followed up since my car has been in the shop getting some hail damage repaired. Should have it back tomorrow.

There's a speed limiter too. I believe it is 155mph. It could be 140mph. Not sure.

According to this, the ECU starts pulling throttle at 137MPH (down to 50% throttle by 140).

I wonder how hard it would be for one of the illustrious ECU tuners to remove that?

I'm sure most do already. But the CARB tune would have to retain it.

We have not changed the speed limiter due to safety concerns. This is due to the fact that the manufacturer has set this limit for some reason aerodynamic, or other reasons unknown to us. From previous experience we have found it better to leave the limit in place. But if anyone does request it to be changed please send an email informing us that you are aware of the risks involved and agree to take full responsibility of anything that may occur by changing this limit.

The OEM speed limit in the us is set to 221 kph or about 136.

Cheers,
William Knose

My car has just started to have misfire issues above 5K RPMs. I suspect the DI seals are gone on 3 of 4 cylinders based on it's behavior being consistent with DI seal failure and the fact that the dealer did some diagnosis and found 3 of 4 cylinders misfiring above 5K RPMs.
