You can still get an awesome sound stage super cheaply by focusing in the right places. That's where I like to play.

True. Proper gear setup, speaker placement, and room acoustics are arguably more important than one's equipment list.

I just sold all my stereo equipment. 5 Klipsch speakers, Adcom GFA, and a Rotel preamp. Paid $2000 in 1998. Sold for $600. I was elated to get that much!!!!

My father in law told me all about his set up and the story behind where each piece came from a few years ago, but I remember none of it lol. He seemed pretty happy with it, and he's been into music his whole life. Far fewer speakers than the picture soundman shared at least. I think there are two big boxes, and a couple of smaller ones.

Thank you for the link
I used to go to the electronics show many years ago. You needed a private invitation to go to the hotel to see and listen to the high end equipment. It was fun to hear the 25 cent explanation of why this or that was the best cutting edge and would be the best for the foreseeable future. Well until next year.
I knew Henry Kloss and loved his explanation of what was really needed, and it did not include 20K dollars.

This basically describes my dream home. Excavation and foundation I understand to actually be the long/expensive part though.

I once sold one bose speaker I could never find the other half to. Paid $20 for it. Ebay was averaging $75 for single speakers. I got $50, and then learned of ebay's selling costs, AND seller costs. I ended up $15 in the hole after all was said and done.

I usually donate or give away anything that I don't have a use for. Car parts are the same way.

Same here. I’d rather have the space then clutch onto a stock catback hoping to get 500 out of it.

When I became a power seller on eBay, I learned a few lessons the hard way too! Ouch! I ended up having to give one item to a buyer and a refund! Dang it!!! eBay arbitration blows if you are a seller!
