So I got new wheels, XXR550s. My impact sockets won't fit in the lug wells. I got a set thin wall sockets with a plastic sheath and these won't fit even without the plastic. My 3/8 socket fits in the lug well but I'm worried it will rub the paint on the side of the well.

Is there a wheel saver socket in a 3/8 socket thickness? Is there a product(plastidip?) That can fit on my socket, or in the lug well that will protect the finish on my wheels?

The "ultra mega thin wall wheel saver impact sockets" on Amazon and ebay are too thick.

If you do them by hand and torque them down by hand after it should cause minimal damage right? Or grease the socket lmao

Don't get impact. You are now in the world of having nice wheels, treat them like you would a new born baby. Go to your local auto parts store and go get yourself a 19mm extended socket (non-impact) and attach that shit to your wrench/breaker bar. Use a torque wrench to get them on properly.

Good quality, regular 17mm sockets will work fine.

If you don't want to scratch up the paint of the wheel, you need to move to a 17mm lug nut so you have more room for the socket.

Thanks for the replies. The only socket I have is a normal 17mm non impact. I have other nice wheels but the lug well is much larger on them so it wasn't a problem. I think, while torquing the socket will rock to the side and rub the edge of the well. That's why I'm looking for something to better protect my new wheels. You guys thing plastidip will work?

1. Buy a set of "tuner lugs" They are designed for wheels with small lug wells.
2. Buy a set of McGard spline drive lugs. The sockets are slimmer.
3. Buy a set of internal drive lugs. Instead of a socket, you use a Hex bit.

2. I don't want new lugs I want to use my Project Kics

Plastidip will probably not be durable enough to protect your wheel, and you're going to be making the tolerance between the socket and wheel even smaller. Are your kics extended? Personally I found the deep well sockets at Harbor Freight to be pretty thin.

Yes kics are extended but the socket will touch the wheel eventually. My next idea is to get a sleeve 3d printed at work. I really would prefer to never get near the lug well but without all new lugs it's just not possible
