Arrow SPDA - Beginner friendly track day CTMP DDT Aug 8, 2020

SPDA is having another beginner friendly track day in Aug 8! Unlike the previous track day in June, we're finally able to accept novices for some coaching. If you have any questions, let me know

Yes, you read that right, the Touge is BAAAAACK!!! For those that have been around for awhile, you'll remember the ATTS Touge series where we ran a ladder system in a unique competition which pits 2 drivers against each other. The DDT is modified using cones to simulate the narrow roads in the Japanese mountains. We simulate narrow bridges and blind corners.

The objective is for each driver to get to their finish line first.

Here's how we do it. We setup 2 start finish lines on the main strait of the DDT approx 50 meters apart. Each of you line up at your respective start / finish lines. When the green flag drops, both of you accelerate as fast as you can and drive the modified ddt. Don't worry if you get too close to the car in front (20 meters) we flag you provide space.

The objective for the front car is to increase the gap between the cars, the objective of the car behind is to close the gap. The first one back to their finish line WINS that round, it's best 2 out of 3 and we switch cars around, back goes to front, and front goes to back and you get to do it again!!

The schedule for the day will be:
Open Lapping from 9:00 until 12:00 (by grouping, TBD)
Alligator Lapping during Lunch time
Open Lapping from 1:00 - 3:15
Touge from 3:15 until 5:00

Safety is number 1, Covid rules are in effect.

Maximum 4 crew members / car
Spaces will be limited.

Beginners are welcome and In car instruction will be available during this event. Back to normal, Nope. We'll be pairing coaches with students, and we will have sanitizers available, and it's highly recommended that everyone use them.

When social distancing is not possible, masks are mandatory.

Registration is open!!! https://spda-online.ca/spda_custom/a..._vbAttsReg.php

This is really cool and sounds a lot like 'Best MOTORing' Touge.

Also, your link is dead. Brings me to a "File not found".

Noob question here...How hard is a track day on the braking system (pads and rotors)? I have the 2020 TS with the Brembo setup.

DDT is particularly rough on pads especially if you're a newbie. Make sure you have fresh brake fluid and fresh pads (ideally track pads or full streets) before attempting.

If you plan on tracking and daily-ing the car, Jordan and Will Parsons can you give you some great advice for pads.

If you plan on ONLY tracking, well, that's easy - slap on some Carbotech XP10s and squeaaaaal like a bus!

Personally, if you're new to track days, I'd drive what you have.

DDT is pretty hard to brakes but if you're only trying it out, I don't see any reason to change your brake fluids and brake pads. Just be conscious of what the car is telling you during your sessions. Brakes getting softer? Ease up on hard braking and let the system cool down. We coaches tell new students to smooth out your braking anyways cause it's not fun bobbing helmet heads throughout the session, lol.

After your first track day, once you know what needs to be addressed, make the adjustments. A good suggestion is to get new brake fluids and brake pads. But racing brake fluids absorb more moisture than regular fluids so it should be changed regularly. I run RBF600 and flush every spring. I would also suggest Ferodo DS2500s when starting out but the occasionally squeaks might annoy you.

Worth every penny.

I'm under some different circumstances this year or else I'd probably go to this. Might be doing some AutoX though.
