Official: Yamaha concept car teased prior to Tokyo Motor Show reveal

Quote:
"Inspired by motorcycles"

Yamaha has released a teaser image of a mysterious concept car set to premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show towards the end of the month.

Among the new products to be exhibited in Tokyo on the "Yamaha Motor Product Orchestra" booth, there's going to be a car and by the looks of it we are dealing with a sporty coupe and most likely it has a plug-in hybrid or fully electric powertrain taking into account most of Tokyo-bound concepts have some form of electrification. Details about it are scarce at the moment as the Japanese marque is only saying the "design concept is inspired by motorcycles and expresses the Unique Style of Yamaha." There's also a chance it's powered by a motorcycle engine given the "inspired by motorcycles" description.

Besides the car, Yamaha has plans on showcasing electrically power-assisted bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, leaning multi-wheelers and a recreational off-road vehicle. In total, there are going to be 20 models, six of which will be world premieres while one of them will be shown for the first time in Japan.

We will have all the info on October 29 when the Tokyo Motor Show will open its doors for the press.

"Inspired by motorcycles"

That means compact, light, agile, insanely revvy up to 8k rpm+ and doesn't break the bank.

Nah, I'm 22 and in the same boat. I refuse to buy a car that I have to plug in.

The profile looks very cab-forward in design.

Nose reminds me of the Gen II Toyota MR2. Incidentally Yamaha hand a hand in designing the motors in the MR2.

If one of the motorcycles is this, you might need to own the bank.

They could use the R1 engine with a turbo.
