Well, you didn't have to explain that you meant arachnids as "I don't have to lift a finger" gave it away. If it was the Italian car variety, you would have been busy with a broom sweeping after them due to their tendancy to poop rust..

Looks like he took a snowblower to the entire yard to pile it up. Then heated it from the inside maybe? Probably used the snowblower and the shovel to dig in and get it started.

Betcha it's not.

Of course a contractor will tell you it's a support wall, so he can charge you more to remove it and shore up the ceiling.

Are the studs 2x4 or 2x6? What is the spacing?

Bubba, with a chain saw, could remove that sucker in a few minutes - then you would know.

Is the ceiling of the garage(s) sheet rocked or open?

We must have pictures - before and after (if you can get back in there).

Seriously, you may wish to stop by that other house with the same plan and see if they have (have considered) taking out that wall.

If there's a room above it, it's likely a supporting wall. Engineered cheapness, as the lumber wall would have been cheaper than setting an i-beam there

I wish I knew were the sister house is. I would have already stopped by.

The garage is finished. Wall doesn't look thick enough for 2x6. You can see doorway in the back of the 2 car into the 1 car. 1 car is like 8' deeper. Short of getting the plans, I will have to tear into it. I'm hoping my contractor friend can come up this summer and help me figure it out.

I just found another switch I didn't know about and have no idea what it switches.

hmmmm…….I see.

If the 1 car garage space is 8 feet deeper, there is a good chance that wall is a supporting wall. Is there rooms above the garage space? If not, can you access the space above the garage ceiling? If so, the way the upper space is trussed may indicate it's a supporting wall.

Hell, I'd leave it alone - looks cozy the way it is. Plus, the one car part would make a great man cave, to give you a place to go, when mrs ho gets tired of your bull shit -

At this point I am assuming it is a support wall. The guy who's parents built the house says it was always there. It was originally attic above it, but is now a big room.

I'm thinking now keeping them separate and putting the slot car track and "man cave" area in the deep end of the 1 car. That way if I'm hanging out I only need to heat the one car side to comfy level in winter. The 1 car already has baseboard heaters.

Then maybe for the 2 car putting in a stacker lift on one side, and a nice work bench area against the back wall. That way, if needed, I could put all 3 sports cars in the 2 car and have room in the 1 car for projects.

I think I could actually do this at a very reasonable price. Need to start saving.

I did cash out $406 today, and I was in $100, so another good day!

I don't think I'm going to epoxy the floor this time. that takes so much prep. Might look into tiles, or keep plain.

Yep, I've gone the epoxy route in 3 garages, all showed damage after a while. Epoxy was OK for basement floors. I tried tile once - that was a disaster.

I'd suggest you cozy up the man cave part with indoor-outdoor carpet and leave the rest unfinished.

My eyes keep closing when I look at the monitor - it must be nap time -

I don't mean tile tile, I mean like the rubber mat type tiles

Look into moisture issues-- a friend of a friend once said they rotted out another friends floor because they trapped the salt brine amd prevented it from evaporating

I never looked into it because i haven't had a need to do so.

My garage floor is like a peel off visor. If a part of it bothers me, i scrub it with a broom and the top layer of concrete comes up!

No, I don't got the picture -

The concrete floor in your garage is in layers? -
