How many KM total on the car? The o2 on has gone out around 160k KM. This was true of my original o2 as well as the used o2 I replaced it with

you probably drive the car in pretty low rpm all the time,

key to gas saving is not driving at low rpm but how you modulate your throttle

There may not be any physical mods to the car but has the ECU been flashed by the previous owner or tuned?

Car has just over 100k km on it, I was thinking it would be an O2 sensor as well. And it was a young guy that owned it before me, so there is a chance it was tuned. Not sure if there is an easy way to figure that out without OFT

Anecdotally, I drive in stop-and-go traffic to and from work every day, averaging about 250km per tank right now. Variables that I think may affect my mileage:

Still on winter tires
Fill at Pioneer station
Moderate acceleration from a stop
6MT shift at ~2500rpm

I recall filling with Shell 91 tends to last longer but I moved so the Shell station is now out of my way and I would have to take a longer route to hit one. Also that Shell station always has the highest prices where I live so I don't think it will help.

.... Shift at maximum 4k and minimum 3.4k. To me this is optimal shift range for my car and has produced decent mileage. I city drive for 40 minutes and highway for 10 day to day.

On winters with an inch larger diameter, and not really conservative with the throttle, my last tank was 470~ if you were to calculate it to full; filled it at quarter tank with 350km on my trip indicator. That is, of course, if the fuel gauge is accurate in my car, which I believe it so, I have pulled 600km out of this car in one tank in the past on the stock rubber.

Edit: I also look at my trip and how many litres I put into the car at fill up and they are accurate to fuel gauge. I actually have pics of trip/fuel filled if anyone is interested.

I am ballparking my range based on the length of my commute and approximately how long a tank of gas usually lasts assuming no superfluous driving. I should start to keep better track using the trip meter but I always forget to check it lol.

I'll try to do that on my next fill and compare mileage with different shift points.

im on stock winter size using only 91 from shell and im at 6.7l/100km and roughly around 500km every time with 99% highway driving and im all stock as well with just over 105k km. i set cruise at 104 and its roughly just over 2000 rpm but there is also times where ive managed 630km a tank on the warmer days of winter aha

I use the free Fuelly app to keep track of my L/km, you can also see what other 86’s are doing as well. My averages over the last three years are as follows: 9.4 L/km per 380km for 35.75 L fill up, since retiring last year and not driving to work daily for the past 12 months 8.8 L/km per 412km for 36.1 L fill up and last 3 months 9.8 L/km per 367.4k for 36.11 L fill up. As you can see winter driving for me cuts down on my L/km. I have always use shell 91 since I pick her up new and put 51,000km on her.

I keep meaning to use this app. I always seem to forget to use it every time I fill up.

I just write the odometer + trip info on my receipt and input it when I have the time or remember to do it

Yeah it's easy for me, I just leave it on the trip and just reset it any time I get gas. But if you're range actually is 250km, that would mean your L/100km is like 20 lol.. that's worse than old jeeps.

Also maybe do it for more than your next fill just to be more accurate.

My car is currently showing 8.7L/100km on the indicator at the moment. That is with staggered 18 inch wheels with stretched tires (I did not winter the car this year).

I usually don't fill up my tank to the top, so I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly how many km I'm getting to a full tank, BUT when I took my car to the cottage last summer (near Ottawa and mostly highway driving), I got close to 550km out of one tank.
