2014 BRZ rumors

Has anyone else heard about this?

http://www.torquenews.com/1084/subar...ce-models-year

Quote:
The new performance BRZ S to launch next month

The 2014 BRZ S, which will soon be an addition to the line-up, will feature a range of Subaru Tecnica International (STI)-inspired equipment. This BRZ S will be sold exclusively online from mid-June and will feature a distinctive sports pack. The factory-backed pack comprises a long list of components that distinguish it from the standard BRZ. The BRZ S will be track ready and will include front under, side, rear-side and boot lip spoilers, a flexible tower bar, coil spring set and 17-inch black STI alloy wheels.

Subaru did not announce what engine specs the new BRZ S will come with, but it’s not likely to have a turbo upgrade. The BRZ STI that has been seen testing at Germany’s Nurburgring track will likely be what we see on the new BRZ S. It will get upgrades to the intake system on the 2.0-liter boxer engine that is reported to bump the horsepower from the current 200 hp to around 220-230 horsepower. Additional power will be added by Subaru making adjustments to the dual active valve control system. The maximum rpm’s could also be raised past the current 7,500 rpm limit. A new free flowing exhaust system will improve exhaust flow and reduce back pressure.
I know there are several "Is Subaru going to release a BRZ STI". I'm kind of curious where they are getting this information from.

It's all sound BS to me.

Here are few reasons why:
1. There's already a "S" model (in Japan)
2. Intake will bump up 20~30hp? Yeah, not happening
3. Free flow exhaust? Again, not happening
4. Raise the redline to 7,500 rpm? Not happening, unless they wanna drop more tq

Seriously, whoever wrote that need to do better lie than that

The BRZ S is basically a BRZ with the full JDM STI accessories catalog installed. It is NOT the official STI car. Yes, you can "technically" get one in the states by just importing the parts in .

Official press release from Subaru Australia

Thanks for your patience and at last we’re delighted to update you on STI accessories for BRZ.
As from late June 2013 Subaru Australia will have limited availability of a special “S-Pack” option of factory-backed STI accessories for BRZ which includes a wide variety of style enhancements – for details see the photos and pricing below. This information will be loaded onto our website shortly .
As you know, demand is huge internationally for all things BRZ, so our Australian allocation of these items will be limited in the first few months. So until STI in Japan can make more of these items available, the following will apply:
Initially we will make the S-Pack available as a bundle only – i.e. the S-Pack accessories (other than the rear diffuser) will not be available for purchase as individual items for the foreseeable future.
The S-Pack will initially only be available for fitment on “new” BRZs yet to be delivered from our compounds (as at the date of this email). Please contact me directly asap on brzcoordinator@subaru.com.au if your vehicle is still in our compound and you are interested in purchasing an S-Pack for your BRZ.
Following these orders (and subject to availability), we will next offer the S-Pack to owners of BRZs in transit or awaiting collection at Subaru Retailers. Please ask your Retailer to contact me asap quoting your VIN or BRZ number if your BRZ falls into this category and you wish to purchase an S-Pack.
For BRZs not in the above categories (ie already delivered), please register your interest in purchasing an S-Pack with your local Subaru Retailer, who has already been advised of the above process. Depending upon demand, we expect to be in a position to begin filling S-Pack orders for already delivered BRZ’s around August / September 2013 at the earliest.

The S-Pack for manual transmission will be $7,995 (fitted), while the automatic transmission S-Pack will be $7,195 (fitted).

For those that are not in the know will probably buy the bundle in Autsrailia and might think they're actually getting the real deal STI. SMH

Still the kit is nice, but the real question here is are they saving any money by bundling the kit, just wondering?

Hm... that's a hard question. It's all up to area you live. Some places, you can get those parts bought & installed cheaper than just buying BRZ that comes with it.
