Not listed. If they kept the same 4.3 final drive, it should rip through the gears. |

To be honest, I think they did the best they could to address the most frequent complaint about gen 1 (i.e. 'torque dip!') without going FI or going to a 3.0 or larger NA engine. It certainly seems like the 2.4 will provide steady, linear power all the way to 7K where peak power is. That's not bad at all. The sound, on the other hand...

OK, some other things I like. The interior - I actually like the design, the materials look more premium (even if they aren't), and thank the gods, they resisted the temptation of the 'iPad stuck on top of the dashboard' screen fad. Yes!!! That fad will date all the recent cars that have it.
Mixed feelings about the digital instrument screen. On the one hand, new tech and configurability is nice and the nod to the old 86 boxer logo shape is nice. On the other hand, I love classic, real, old school round gauges. My ideal is probably what Porsche do, providing a mix of real gauges and digital ones, all housed inside real, round bevels - that's classy and practical. Oh well. |

As it is, the engine specifications are literally a bullseye on the 'get Spuds interested' targets I had for Gen2. But of course, it's never quite good enough... Edit, I used literally wrong. I'll leave it for your amusement... |

Or you can just get part numbers for the Forester XT oil cooler.

The only thing they did wrong is make the screen a square instead of taking up the whole ring. I also had the same complaint with the DTM cluster.

I said the same when I first got the 20 but got used to it and now it seems normal and round would look weird to me.

If my car got totaled, and I needed a new car, besides the short list of other options, I would have a hard time choosing between the first and second generation.
I’m curious if the motor will swap, I’m curious what they did to strengthen the internals, and I’m curious if the transmission will swap if it was beefed up at all. I’m currently on E85 at a bar of boost on a Harrop supercharger probably pushing north of 350whp on stock internals. If this thing could handle 400-450whp on stock internals then that would be bad ass.

Same here. I actually feel that could be said about every change or aspect on the first gen refreshes. I didn't like it, now I do. I think a lot of that is because you see the information presented in the gauge is gone really well using up the entirety of the right half of the little square. Things/graphics would have to be redesigned to fit the shape. I personally feel Porsche did a nice job in integrating digital and analog on their past models.

I prefer the pre-facelift display, but they could lose the speedometer in favor of circular oil temp/pressure gauges. It seems redundant to have a digital and analog speedometer. I agree with the other guy that Porsche did it right; do whatever, but just give me a circular, analog, bezeled tach center screen.
