at a campground, someone in my family will strike up a conversation with some other campers nearby. a few different times, we've met people from south africa, or france, both making their way across the US.

their perspectives are all screwed up because they can visit 3-4 countries in an easy 24 hours, and have extremely easy access to efficient public transportation.

both times, they were in indiana having the conversation with us, but were expecting to be able to visit the big apple, the grand canyon, yellowstone, and beverly hills all within the next 2 days.

But what were they doing in Indiana? It's not near any of those places.

Welll, my mom is something. She is not a sweet little old lady. She is refusing services, not eating enough, etc..... She just wants to be put in her bed in front of her tv, have pain pills, and left alone. Very frustrating. She wasn't always this grumpy and difficult. I think it really started after my dad died.

We got her a studio apartment in an assisted living facility. Very nice. I did not know that at $10,500 a month they supply nothing as far as furniture and stuff, so my older brother(from Arizona) and I busted our assets moving furniture and stuff and getting her room ready before the hospital transported her to the home. Unfortunately my younger brother broke his arm 4 days ago, so he couldn't help.

She is getting hospice care now, along with the facility care. She is skin and bones. She is not ambulatory at this time. One doctor said at her current rate of calorie intake, his guess was 2 weeks.

I think this is the most mentally and physically drained and stressed I've ever been in my life.

Very sorry to hear. Sounds a lot like what happened with my grandmother a couple of years ago before she passed. Hoping you can convince your mom it's still worth fighting a bit longer.

Man, I tell you, every other car in San Jose now is a Tesla.

I saw a twin today with all the rear end stuff off it and the largest fart can muffler I've ever seen. It was popping and crackling like crazy. Funny.

Granted I live in a large complex but you wouldn't believe the number of new teslas, Mercedes, rav4 primes, and other decently expensive cars there have been the past few months.

I feel like every week there's a new model 3 or y with new paper plates.

I've recently realised I've reached old age. Not very old birthday wise but my body is beginning to fail me. Decades of Type 1 diabetes is beginning to take its toll and regardless of how well the blood glucose level is controlled a body without diabetes is going to fare better all things being equal (which they aren't). Even without diabetes aging would have made its self known eventually.

I am not suggesting that this is unique but the one very important incredibly significant point is I've never been in this situation before.

I'm thinking it's a little bit interesting and scary at the same time.

my daughter was diagnosed with type 1 at 18 months. I worry about her everyday. She is 30 now. Thankfully she has never passed out or needed a glucagon injection.

I have a congenital heart condition. Last time I was in the emergency room 3 years ago one cardiologist said, "You have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and you made it to 56?, Wow.".

That didn't give me much hope.

I know what your dealing with sucks, and I know the daily routines you must deal with really suck.

Hang in there, and you always have this group of a-holes and retards to vent and joke with.

I've never made my exact age known here. That way I can claim to be any where between 12 and 90 although claiming I am 12yo doesn't hold up to scrutiny given I joined this forum 11 years ago.

My outlook is that I much prefer to have Type 1 diabetes than many other chronic diseases out there.
Mmmm... Type 1 or confined to a wheelchair? Type 1 or chronic asthma? Type 1 or deafness?
