Dang, this is my first experience so it's all new to me. The rep said the right things now I just have to wait and see how she sorts this out.
I love this freaking car and want to drive it! |

I know. I don't know nuthin' 'bout no Subaru either. Others here have more expertise and history with the brand. I always asumed they were just another (good) Japanese car mfr. |

Final Update:
32 total days in shop, one ECU reflash, two ECUs replaced, and VVTi replaced and I'm finally fixed! Picked up today, Toyota Field Rep came down and put in an 812 ECU. Field Rep took it on an extended 50+ mile road test and gave clean bill of health. I drove it hard for two hours straight after picking it up with zero problems. No CEL or TRAC and idle is a constant 700 RPMs cold and warmed up. I'm calling it fixed! |

Quick update, the Subaru rep contacted the dealer and they got the flash and so they brought me in this morning and it's done.
So far I do notice that the car has a faster idle but mostly when the car is cold. The car pulls away cleaner now when cold as well. Before it would bog down just a little bit. Full credit to the Subaru rep for getting me taken care of so quickly. Ready for a nice sunny weekend of driving. |

Toyota 86 M/T with 1100km on the clock, 10/12 production:
it happend after revving the engine hard then coming to a complete stop, idle became rough and started to decrease to 400 rpm then the engine CEL&SL came in I thought the issue was resolved from Sept. Production. I took it to the dealer and they say this is the first case and apparently they seem to have no idea of what is going on. Searched a lot and I cant seem to find the exact problem. Some say its just a reflash and other say cam sprocket while in the BRZ section ECUs are being replaced. Any thoughts? Thanks

Is this issue slowing down in occurrences?? There hasn't been too many new cases showing up like there was in the beginning. Maybe they're using the new "coolant thermostat tsb" to get those that might pop up form time to time and nip it in the bud.

I too have noticed what appears to be a marked slow down in reporting on this site of t he CEL/VVT idle problem in recent weeks. I'm hoping that means they've got the problem under control. I have a gut feeling (that's all it is) that the new TSB will also reflash the ECU in an attempt to fix the CEL at the same time. 2 cents, Sean |

I'm officially no longer an 86 owner. Turned in my keys this morning. The BRZ will trouble me no more. Just couldn't handle the reliability issues. Maybe in a few years, I'll try again. I believe in Tada's vision. I just can't trust the product as delivered.
Sucks. At least SoA made it right, kind of. Really making it right would have been just fixing the car definitively. But I'm not stuck with a car I'm afraid of, so plus points to Subaru.
