Crack in intake box

Just got a 2020 And this box connected to where the engine air filter is cracked. Should I be worried? Is this causing leaks or damaging my engine and should it be replaced?

I would definitely take it back to the dealer and have them replace it. Its a 2020 should be under warranty.

Welcome to our group -

I agree, it should be replaced under warranty.

Meanwhile, I'd suggest you just duct tape it up.

That is the resonator and it's sole purpose is to make noise. It does enter into the "dirty" side of the filter so not sucking in dirty air.
But...
It has been demonstrated that having it opens messes with sensors to some extent.

And...
It is a brand new car that should not be broken so get it fixed. That is a pretty tough piece of plastic so I am very curious how it was damaged in the first place!

Yeah not sure how that got broken like that. I've had lots of them damage that bad and worse but it's taken the cars crashing into something to do it..

Maybe resting ones weight on it while cleaning/checking something?

Hopefully they will replace that under warranty for you and not deem this as you fiddling around under the hood and breaking things.

First off, it's before the filter so no worries driving with it.

I'm having a hard time seeing how it broke from leaning on it. that resonator is supported on the other side and it's pretty sturdy.

It actually looks more like someone yanked upwards on it rather than pushing it down.

I did provide a link showing the tiny effect it has on performance.

Technically, it won't do much, if any harm having it open there. It's upstream of both the filter and the MAF.

Only obvious drawback is that you're going to be pulling in hot air from the engine bay (hotter intake air, heat soak, lower performance).

Get them to replace it, or replace it yourself. Alternatively, plug the hole.

Barely. You can see where the plastic has snapped and is still on the resonator. If you bolt it back together with the resonator in, it will be barely different to stock as they aren't sealed anyway.
