I have been using this one with good results.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Hydro-Turf-Oil-Extractor-6-Liter-OIL01/dp/B000GU0MMU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1420302817&sr=8-5&keywords=oil+changer"]Amazon.com: Hydro-Turf Oil Extractor 6-Liter OIL01: Automotive[/ame]

I just slide the tube down the tube where you check the oil, pump 10 times , and watch it flow. Best to do it when oil is warm. When it gets 3/4 full I drain it and start again (drains faster that way)...Easy!

Then take the used oil to our township in an old plastic milk carton and drop it off.

just posting to add to the thread in case it helps future members, but i found this thread, researched the oil extractors, read a bulk of the reviews from users, and ended up buying the hydro-turf one.

F*CKING AWESOME. i already had a box of oem toyota oil for our cars and a bunch of oem filters. did my oil change in my garage with zero mess! something awesome about being able to do an oil change in the garage while wearing pj's and not having a single drop of oil hit the floor.

thanks to everyone in this thread that provided info and feedback!

Wow this is awesome considering that I do not have a jack and jackstands with me... Silly question though, if I do manage to invest in some jacks, can this work for my tranny fluid swaps too?

I still dont see how this saves any time.
I am pretty sure that I can drain the entire oil pan and put the plug back in before you can get any oil flowing with one of those.

And I never jack up my cars for an oil change.
I drive one wheel up the curb and slide under in the gutter in the street.

But I love new tools, so whatever floats your boat.

Cool concept, although I'll stick with my fumoto valve for oil changes. Drive one side up on a ramp/curb and then just open the valve. Requires 0 tools and is insanely quick as well.

I used this oil extractor on my last oil change. Has an 8 qt capacity. Quick and easy to use. because i dont want to do an oil change on the side of my street. nor do i want to do an oil change by crawling under my car anymore, whether in a garage or on a dirty street. because i can do this in the privacy of my garage and not even have to change clothes before or afterwards.

lazy? perhaps to some, but they aint doing the oil change on my car, i am.

great post but this is all it really comes down to. some members cannot slide under there car and some members would never lay down in the gutter (not talking about myself here) but to each their own.

no sooner had i posted this reply did i end up talking a customer into buying one, the one off harbor freights website!

Interesting method.

I still prefer the Fumoto valve. I have a super low jack so I just lift the front end up and drain it out while replacing the filter and cleaning/prepping everything else up to.

Close valve. Fill up. Done. Takes all of 20 minutes or so total and I'm really only doing any work for maybe 5 minutes of that. The remaining time is just letting the oil drain.

Fair enough. I guess I normally keep both my garage and car clean enough that it's not an issue for me. My last oil change was performed in a button up shirt and dress pants after work.

In the land of socal there isn't a ton of flat ground.

Definitely going to invest in one of these. My only concern would be how much residual fluid/particles it leaves behind.
