Earphones with standard 2013 radio

How can earphones be used so the passenger can sleep while driver listens to radio/CD/usb? When I plug earphones in below the usb port, nothing happens.

That is not for headphones. Its an AUX input so you can
play music from your device to the car speakers.

Driver shouldn't have earphones on no matter what.

This, for a variety of legal and safety reasons. Have your passenger wear earplugs if it's that much of an issue.

That may be the only possibility, but how about only 1 earphone? People do talk on their phones while driving with an earphone. Is there a port for 1 earphone somewhere?

No, there are no headphone or "earphone" ports anywhere on car radios, for the reasons previously mentioned. Only exception to this is entertainment systems in some minivans for the rear seats. Will not be found for any front-seat occupants.

Agreed, the system is not intended to be used in this way. Not that I'm endorsing driving with earphones, but how often do you have sleeping passengers in which the content you are listening to is not available via smartphone? Only reasonable example I can think of for doing this is a long distance night drive with audiobooks.
Afterthought: the frs is a loud car by nature. Why not just play the radio on low?
