Hi folks - super new here - tried to poke around but can not find answer..

Is there a 16inch setup for TRD package 86? Or if not - what is the skinniest rim in 17" I can fit?

As far as i know these cars do not come with 16" wheel an tire packages in the US. Heres a couple threads to help you. If the TRD 86 packages comes with Brembo's then disregard these links as fitment will be different...

I'm planning to get 18x8 american racing rims particularly the Torq Thrust. It has +41 offset. Will they sit flush on my '16 BRZ? Also, what's the max tire size?

No, they will not be flush you need at least +35 offset. The max tire size you can use with that wheel is a 245/35/18.

Thanks. I found a set of used XXR 527 so I might go with that route.

I'm sitting here right now in a car shop that has accidentally broken something small on my car dash during a detail. They offered me a 50% off discount on Blizzak tires, I can order whatever model I want if they don't have it in stock.

But, they do have it 4 WS80 215/55R17 tires here they can install now. Will these actually fit? I'm trying to get a confirming second opinion before I order anything.

Yes they will fit, as long as you have OEM wheels or any 17" wheel that is 17x7 17x7.5 & 17x8. Those tires will just be taller than OEM tires but it will fit fine.

That's a good deal, but I'd push for a set of WS90s. WS80s are guaranteed to be at least two years old now, and winter tire rubber has a limited lifespan.

I'll also say the WS series isn't actually my top pick for Cleveland anymore. I run a set on the Matrix (So ~100WHP on a really good day.) and the spring temperature flips really eat up the rubber when it gets warm for a few days then dumps back to 30f for a week. Two years in and one pair is almost through the upper 50% of tread with the really soft rubber, and the other pair will probably be gone by the end of the winter.

If you haven't jumped see if you can get some WS90s or the newer X-Ice Snows. I have some X-Ice 3s for the 86 and they're doing great after 3 seasons. They're great through the snow storms and don't get eaten up as much on dry pavement.

anticubus: properly stored tire degrades little. I'd expect not more then eg. 10%/3-5 years, worsening for modern tire in storage warehause. It's when it in actual use, "clock really ticking for it", as rubber wears down, goes through heat cycles, some possible additives dissipate, roadsalt and other road chemistry and so on .. and if for some tires last even past 3 years of real use ..
So imho it's safe enough to get upto 3 years old tires, especially if they come with some good deal that more then offsets slight potential degradation.

Yes with coilovers you should be fine. Keep in mind that every tire manufacturer have different tolerances so even if they are the same size tires some may be wider or narrower compared to a different manufacturer.

My prediction is a tiny bit of rub at full deflection in the front

Or you could just get 3-5mm spacers. I wouldnt run any larger than that on stock length studs. Or just buy proper size wheels...
