Ditching the show for some go.. wheels and tires ?

Ok I maybe opening a can of worms here, and it may have been opened a few times before...

I did my first track day this past weekend, and am considering selling off my 'Show' wheels and tires - staggered fitment works with EVo12's and picking up a set of 'go' with RPF1 in 17".. Suspension is stock shocks/struts and Eibach pro-lines.

I want to do more track days, and some autoX as well, and the tires will have to do the 100 mile commute a couple days a week (that's there and back) I don't have the space or funds to keep multiple sets of wheels and tires and dedicate a set for 'fun' days.

Onto the questions..

I see 17x8 will fit no worries in any of the offsets, though I'd prefer something wider such as the 17x9 (want a little show..) Which offset is better without going to coilovers and why?

Is there such a thing as a good all around tire? I see a lot of people on Dunlop DZ2's..

Higher offset is better; less aero drag.

No tire does everything; keep a set of winter tires, and use the track tires for sunny weather, and you'll be just fine.

For a 17x9 an offset of under 40 is really needed to run camber to clear the spring pperch from what I have gathered. (I dont have wheels yet but am keeping a spring /strut set-up so I have done a bit reading. So ymmv).

I have 17x8 with 245/40 Michelin pilot super sports on. I have an incredibly hard time getting the tires to break. I'd recommend these tires for your summer set up.
