I never appreciated my TI-89 Titanium calculator until my Physics II teacher this semester banned them. Now all I get is a Ti-30Xa for exams

First world problem as hell.

Try taking in a T-800 and see if it gets banned.

Holy shit that really sucks.
Can confim no Ti-84's for term 1 calculus final. Had to redo the second derivative 5 times before i realized i did the first one wrong.

You guys realize that people managed calculus with nothing but their brain and some writing device of some sort for hundreds of years right?

Dam high school must be easy in the states. I got thru high school with a crappy Casio fx-991. The calculator became totally useless by 1st year university Calculus with that delta epsilon crap.

They're pretty much useless for actually learning calculus and physics. They're good for crunching through the menial tasks involved in solving multi-step problems. I'm against kids using them too early for basics.

I had no calculator in high school nor did I for my first attempt at college back in the early 80s. I still have the Casio I was issued when I went through avionics school in the Navy.

Yeah I can attest to the fact that having a brain and a pen doesn't help in calculus and physics. But kids need their brains to learn basics Ultramaroon.

Surprisingly it's not mainly about storing cheats and what not. Actually about the fact that they simply do too much for you. The departments want you doing the integrals to make the physics equations yourself and not plugging it in. It's just to keep you sharp and ensure you actually know what you're doing. Most Universities are heading this way or already on board.
