VF Tuner software GR86/BRZ

Hello everyone!

A thread was posted here a while back about us cracking the ECU, and we haven't had the chance to post updates in a while, as we were working on our new interface (wiflashes)

Well..everything is done!
Initially we hadn't planned to offer any tunes (ots / otherwise). But several folks continually requested some sort of base map / OTS map to get started with..

So our kit includes OTS maps! (dyno tuned).

For $399 you get everything included:
Software license for 1 vehicle
ECU Read / write / tune / modify
OTS maps that are not locked and you can freely edit.
our new WiFlash interface that allows wired / wireless flashing / wire / wireless logging.

Note, our option allows you, the vehicle owner, access to the tables, tuning parameters, etc. You are not locked into your map and have no ability to edit.
Our OTS Maps can also freely be edited.

Worldwide support is included (not market limited).

our OTS Map dyno results are from a 100% stock vehicle, no modifications done, not even an oil change, and 91 octane.

Great job! But targeting 13:1 AFR seems a little much, I hope the sensor is reading a little lean

We watched knock and all other data while creating the calibration and actual target AFR / AFR pre cat is closer to 12.6, post cat closer to 12.8/12.9

More power is always nice... but my annoyance is with the rev hang and sluggish (digital, I assume) sampling of the gas pedal. Also wondering how your system plays with draconian CA smog requirements. Last I heard they need factory tune re-installed, the checksum to match, and may even read the flash counter. (Please forgive me if these are stupid questions, I don't know much about "tuner" operation.)

We are not aware of all of Californias requirements except yes the CVN must match. When you flash "stock" with our software it will be true stock so CVNs will be original.

From what we have gathered you can't really check the flash counter without special tools (like subaru SSM5) which it's very unlikely smog centers would have.

It is probably exactly like they are doing in colorado, which is check the calibration ID, and check the CVN matches for that ID.

Regardless, our software is designed for Off Road / competition / Track use / CARB certification process / to bring a vehicle to emissions standards/ and should not and can not be used to circumvent / tamper with / modify / eliminate / delete any emissions component. Check local laws and regulations for your application.

We have already mapped out and tested how to make the pedal much more responsive.

We have many tables / parameters already defined, but we won't limit you!

Enjoy access to every table in the entire ECU.

May want to re-evaluate the copy.

95% of the reason I have an OFT for my 1st Gen is for the improvement in throttle response.

Keep in mind that different tunes have a different level of throttle response. For example the OFT V4.3 tunes have garbage response, whereas Wayneroms.com tunes have amazing response.

The fact that VF mentioned a strong improvement in throttle response with their tune is very encouraging.

Just so it's 100% clear for me, does "WiFlash interface" = the physical tuning device needed to tune the car, not just some software for someone who already has a WiFlash device?

Yeah I'm following for this. All I want in a tune is to clean up the throttle. Make it linear and responsive. Predictable.

I figured fixing it with OFT or whatever will end up costing me around $1000 and for that I can live with it as-is. This $400 option seems a little too good to be true, I guess depends on what the OTS map does and what it will take to get a custom tune otherwise.

I suspect the Toyota and Subaru versions have slightly different throttle maps. My 23 BRZ is pretty linear, just not "responsive" :-)

The wiflash device is the actual interface / dongle you plug into the OBDII and connect to with the software that allows you to read/write/flash/log/etc
