This seemed like a really cool mod and I definitely would have bought it whenever my GR86 comes in until I read the instructions. No way in hell am I DRILLING A HOLE IN THE TRUNK of a new car for a handle. Perrin couldn't find an existing hole to use?!

Dude, all you are doing is slightly widening an existing hole in a support gusset. It's not like they are having you drill a hole through the outer portion of the lid sheet metal.

Not a mod for me because I don't care that much about having a handle. But its an easy mod and does not require doing anything serious to your car. Believe me, drilling the holes in the console so I could install the armrest/console cover in the Gen1 was a MUCH bigger deal.

The product page lists the 22 BRZ/GR86 as being compatible.

I stand corrected, the instructions made it seem like you had to drill a new hole for that. I suppose that's much better.

I have this on my 2020:

Doesn't exactly work with 2022 since the plate is mounted on the bumper now.

I've only just realized the rear seats can be folded down from within the trunk!

There are two lanyard pull tabs at the rear of the seat back that can release the latch.

Yea, same as GEN1. Someone needs to show that to Doug DeMuro too.

No clue, other than thinking the chirp is getting amplified by the active sound unit. What's odd about the sound is it's very apparent in the cabin but very hard to locate in the engine bay. I know 'crickets' is a common issue in 1st Gen cars, mostly attributed to the high pressure fuel pump. I'm planning on having an oil change at 3k miles, I'll also have them try to assess the chirp sound.

Good to know, I don't like, subscribe, or read comments on YouTube.

Although you would have thought when filming he would have looked for a method to open it.
