Request: Magnetic seat belt lock
http://modifry.com/products/sbl/index.htm
I use a CG Lock, but ran across this and like the idea. With all the brilliant minds on this forum, does anybody know if it can be made to work on an FR-S/BRZ? Thanks in advance. |

I was thinking of something like this, may take a look at the retractor one night and let you know if I come up with anything.

I could see this working, seat belts lock based on a *clutch*, which engages at high pulling force on the belt. If the clutch, or something coupled to it can be attracted by a magnet into the locked position, it would always be locked.
The question is what is ours made of? I guess the first test would be to pull the reel out and use a magnet to see if you can lock it in this manner. Then it could be worth looking for a way to mount an electromagnet like the one in this kit. Please note that non-magnetic does NOT mean it is a crappy material, and either way is completely safe. |

Pull the seatbelt out all the way til it clicks, then let it in all they way it should lock when you do that.
