You don't have to run 18s. You can run 17s. These are just 20mm wider to accommodate wider wheels/tires for track cars.

I run 17 by 8 at the track and would run a max of 17 by 9 and don't want to use spacers. I don't thing with either it can be flush.

Any pics with 17's?

I thought the main purpose was to eliminate wheel drag, not wider tires.
And 17 by 8 and up are not stock sizes.

I thought it was to improve wheel drag when adding significantly wider tires.

Sorry 1 inch wider than stock.
